Since the beliefs that parents want to instill in their children can vary greatly, we ask that, instead of adding your personal
opinions about what is right or wrong in a film, you use this feature to help parents make informed viewing decisions by
describing the facts of relevant scenes in the title for each one of the different categories: Sex and Nudity, Violence and
Gore, Profanity, Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking, and Frightening/Intense Scenes.
View MPAA rating and/or certification information
Sex & Nudity
One of the main characters is seen throughout wearing only a breechcloth.
It is implied at one point that a character is urinating.
At the beginning of the film, the mother dinosaur yells, "Honey, it's almost time!" We find both adult
dinosaurs inside their hut hovering over three eggs. Sex is implied.
Violence & Gore
A minor character dies (see Frightening/Intense scenes).
The main character is instructed to capture and kill a creature (he does not do it).
The main character is often put into peril by nature.
Several insects and small animals are killed/eaten.
The head of a large insect is ripped off.
Some fighting between dinosaurs.
Scars are seen on some dinosaurs, who describe how they got their wounds in detail.
Profanity
One incomplete "Bull--"
Alcohol/Drugs/Smoking
Two characters consume rotten fruit and experience hallucinations. It is a brief scene meant to be comical.
The after effects are briefly shown.
Frightening/Intense Scenes
Death is present throughout, including the death of the main character's father in an intense sequence
where he is washed away by the river.
It is implied during an emotional scene that one of the main characters is an orphan.
Some of the action sequences may be intense, including one where the main character struggles to swim
after falling into a rapidly moving river.
The ending may be emotionally intense for some.
Spot is a feral child, which seems to offend some parents because he's treated like an animal rather than
a human. He often gets into fights with other animals which may be scary to some.
Overall, one of Pixar's darkest films, as it has a lot of violence, death, and thematic material.
