The Department of Physical Therapy at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia
(http://www.jefferson.edu/university/health-professions/departments/physical-therapy.html) invites
applications for two 12-month faculty positions within our evolving and expanding Doctor of Physical
Therapy program. We seek candidates with expertise in any of the following areas: administration &
management, anatomy, cardiopulmonary, musculoskeletal, and/or pathophysiology. Candidates must
have an earned academic doctorate and be eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in
Pennsylvania. Preference will be given to candidates with academic teaching experience and an
active research program and sustained or strong potential for extramural funding. Workload
distribution across teaching, research, and service, as well as faculty rank and salary are negotiable
and commensurate with qualifications.
Description:
The Department of Physical Therapy consists of 12 full-time core faculty, associated faculty and
clinical laboratory instructors. Sixty students are enrolled each academic year. The faculty within the
Department of Physical Therapy embrace a culture of clinical excellence through interprofessional
education and practice, innovative teaching across the curriculum and in the University Clinical Skills
& Simulation Center, and integrated experiential learning at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital.
The Department features research laboratory spaces, as well as state of the art classrooms and
teaching laboratories. Teaching and research collaborations within the Thomas Jefferson University
community as well as with external clinical and academic partners are encouraged. The Department
of Physical Therapy is an integral part of the Jefferson College of Health Professions (JCHP) which
also includes the departments of Family and Couple Therapy, Medical Laboratory Sciences &
Biotechnology, Occupational Therapy, Physician’s Assistant, Professional and Continuing Studies
and Radiologic Sciences. .
