2: SUMMARY
The Sahara Desert is one of the last pristine natural landscapes left on Earth.
On its fringe lies the rugged beauty of southern Morocco, with its vivid, redmud kasbahs and lush green valleys. Further south, the valleys turn into
gorges and give way to the silence of shimmering sand dunes and palmfringed oases.
This 5-day Moroccan experience will take you from the desert town of
Ouarzazate into the heart of the Moroccan Sahara. Departing on 14th April
and arriving in Morocco the following day, you will be accompanied by our
Chief Operating Officer, Phil Asher. By day you will seek out hidden relics and
natural desert phenomenon, and each night you will camp beneath the stars.
While the ancient trading routes of the Sahara were once crossed by camel
trains, you will take on the dunes in a desert-ready 4x4 vehicle that has been
equipped with all of the essentials (and some extra toys for comfort). You will
learn how to tackle the dunes, taking the wheel and navigating to some of
the most inaccessible parts of the Moroccan Sahara. At the end of each day,
you will camp in a roof-top tent on the vehicle, dining beneath the stars and
taking the chance to enjoy the tranquillity of this rugged and unique region.

3: ITINERARY
DAY 1
Your flight will land in Ouarzazate in the early hours of the
morning. You will be met at the airport by our Chief
Operating Officer, Phil Asher, and transferred to your hotel
for the night.
Ouarzazate is the largest town in the Moroccan Sahara,
and was once a crossing point for traders taking their
goods to northern Morocco and Europe. At the hotel you
will have a short briefing before heading to your room for
some rest.
DAY 2
After breakfast, you will be given an introduction to the
vehicle before you head east, and into the heart of the
desert. You will spend the morning driving along paved
roads to reach the City of Orion, where German artist
Hannsjörg Voth spent 7 years in the desert, building land
artworks based on the constellation of Orion. You will then
cross the dunes and river, return to the road, and continue
the journey to your desert camp for the night. Upon arrival,
you will ride by camel to the top of a prominent dune to
watch the changing colours of the sands in the sunset.
DAY 3
Following sunrise, you will eat breakfast before loading up
the 4x4 and heading out into the sands. You will take
some time to learn the basics of driving on sand, before
beginning today’s exploration.
This part of the Moroccan Sahara is filled with secret
delights and relics. We will use a combination of local
knowledge and GPS technology to find ancient rock
carvings, fossils and abandoned villages and tombs.
These are places seldom seen by tourists, and won’t be
found in a tourist guidebook. After travelling off-road for
over 100 miles, you will spend the night in a desert oasis
camp.

4: ITINERARY
DAY 4
Today you will continue your desert exploration, seeking
out rock carvings and ancient kasbahs, while taking in the
rugged and tranquil beauty of the desert region. There will
be time to learn about desert survival skills, with Phil
sharing some of his experiences and elite military
training acquired over a 25-year career as a Royal Marines
commando.
After another action-packed day in the dunes, you will
return to paved roads, and transfer back to Ouarzazate.
DAY 5
After breakfast, you will transfer to the airport for an early
morning flight back to the UK.
You will undoubtedly be shaking sand from your boots for
weeks to come, but the memories and experiences of the
past 4 days will stay with you for much longer.
