Tips on How to Get CEUs for Recertification
Username and Password: You will need your log in information. A personalized letter and several
emails are sent starting about 2 months in advance of your certification expiration so log in and
make sure that your CPS online profile (http://cert.safekids.org) is accurate.
If you have misplaced your Username and Password, contact the toll-free customer service at
877-366-8154 or [email protected].
You need to complete at least 6 CEUs (you can mix and match) to recertify.
Many may be earned at your convenience. A few free ideas to get you started…
You can earn up to 3 CEUs from Newsletters and Manuals (Category 5 – Newsletters, etc.)

Take the LATCH manual quiz at www.saferidenews.com

At the CPS Board's home page (www.cpsboard.org/), Click on “Certification + Recertification”. Scroll down towards the
bottom of the page. You will have several editions to choose from.
Read two editions and take the quizzes. Keep a printout of the quizzes. If you are randomly selected to be CEU-audited,
you will have to send in the quizzes. 1 CEU max. (limit two quizzes for 1 CEU)
At the Safe Ride News home page, click on "CPSTs/Professionals" then "Recertification CEUs from SRN".
Scroll down to LATCH manual section and click on the link (pdf) for the LATCH Quiz. 1 CEU max. (limit one quiz)
Take the Child Restraint Manufacturer Instructions (CRMI) quiz at www.carseat.org

At the Safety Belt Safe USA home page, click on "CEUs for Recertification" (under the column Tools for Techs). To get to
the quiz, you must click on the blue word quiz near the bottom of the page. 1 CEU max. (limit one quiz)
You can earn 5 CEUs in online (Category 4 Webinars/online courses)

Your CPS Online Profile: Several quick links for online CEUs is available through your CPS Online Profile. Simply log in and
click on the Online CEUs action item and select where you want to go.


Safe Kids/NHTSA Online Updates (safekidswebinars.org) - Currently unavailable due to transition to a new system.
National CPS Board (www.cpsboard.org) - A variety of online presentations, many from car seat manufacturers, are
available for viewing. After watching the video (or reviewing the PDF), techs will take the online quiz and earn a CEU by scoring
at least 80% on the quiz to receive a certificate. Be ready to print your certificate.
Car seat manufacturers - Three manufacturers provide online CEUs for techs. Click on the link to go to each site.
CEU TIP: Scan (or take a photo) and keep proof of completion electronically in case you are selected for a CEU audit.
