The result is a lightweight pendant lamp, with a simple and almost archetypal form, that through the metal mesh diffuses a soft and mellow light. Each one of these tables taken individually highlight a pattern ; the two tables presented together create a new one : their superposition gives birth to a « moiré » effect, and the pattern becomes alive. He has associated the solidity and lightness of a structure in steel with a geometric table top in cork (sphere, pyramid, parallelepiped). The strength of the object comes from its simple aesthetic and it is without complexes that BASIL can move from a side table next to a sofa to a bedside table. " The wish to use the natural qualities of cork resulted in the creation of BASIL a set of side tables. The steel structure sets in motion the metallic aerial structure and the density of the cork tabletop. The geometric shapes contribute to the simple aesthetics of a piece which is stripped down to its essentials." Dressed by a perforated metal disc, of 23cm or 36cm of diameter, the light bulb disappears and allows a light to seep through and be diffused. The minimal structure, combined with the slidding cable, becomes an eclipse. In 2009 Kral completed his studies with a diploma in MAS design and the luxury industry from ECAL. Tomas Kral launched his studio in Lausanne in 2009 and teaches at ECAL, in the industrial design department. He works for international companies specialised in design such as PCM (Spain), Chrstofle (France), Petite Friture (France), Foudry (Singapour) and many others. His work is exposed in numerous museums and galleries and has won much acclaim. « I have a real fixation for materials and procedures, this is something that translates in my research as much as my products and industrial work. I work on diverse projects, from lighting and furniture to accessories. I often take my inspiration from traditions. I look to inject something a little unexpected, humour and freshness into my objects. In order to find new creative approaches I often experiment with artisanal savoir-faire. » POOL POOL is a duo composed of Léa Padovani (1981) french of Iranian-Italian heritage and Sébastien Kieffer (1982), French, based in Paris. In 2010, POOL create a collective concept, whose goal is to explore associations between objects, architecture and images. Beyond the obvious presence of an object, its beauty and function, the designers search for a multiplicity of meanings and highlight the emotions and reference points. In 2012 they were nominated «Talents à la carte» during Maison&Objet, «Young New Talent» for the price AD and received the «LABEL VIA» for the W&W lighting ceiling system manufactured by ALTER. They have since been edited by La Chance, Habitat and have created numerous scenographies and projects for Cassina, Café Craft, Biennale de Kortrijk... « The effect of the object, whether that be in the form or the function takes great importance in our work. In order to develop this we like to tap into the immediate environment of the story in which we want to become part of, without hierarchy, nor references, rare materials or popular reference as this reference serves for the understanding of the object. Through recognisable typologies and references we like to construct strong identities around our objects. Simple without being simplified. » 17 Amandine Chhor (born in 1983) and Aissa Logerot (born in 1981) are both graduates of Ensci Les Ateliers ; they have been collaborating for over two years on projects that aim to sustain crafts in developing countries. They also work individually, Amandine in the R&D depar tment of Hermès, and Aissa as an independent designer. « As we are complementary in our work and share the same idea on design, we have worked on a range of tables for Petite Friture, initially thought for crafts, and today re-adapted to be produced in series. » AMANDINE CHHOR & AÏSSA LOGEROT 18 ARTHUR LEITNER Born in 1986 in France, Arthur Leitner has a degree in architecture. During his years studying, he realized that working on a smaller scale by designing furniture and objects suited him better as it was more in tune with his creations. In order to pursue his interests, he worked for the studio Campana in Brazil where he developed a special interest in Brazilian culture and craftsmanship. Back in Paris, he worked at Louis Vuitton for two years. He also participated in developing the Nomade collection, alongside the biggest names in design and crafts. In 2013, Arthur opened his own studio whilst continuing to work on projects for Humberto and Fernando Campana, for the Kreo Gallery or on larger projects in Japan. « Self-taught, I proceed empirically: the conception of a shape or of an idea that can spring from a material, a movement, a specific know-how, or also from more abstract notions such as emotions, moods and feelings. During my creative process, I emphasize on the impact of sharing my work and ideas with par tners, editors, craftsmen, which enhances and conveys my original ideas. » 19 Born in 1979 Élise Fouin lives and works in Paris. After graduating from l’École Boulle she was nominated "talent à la carte" at Maison & Objet in 2010, she also exposed work in the " in Vitro/ Génération Boulle" exposition for the VIA Paris before being integrated into the Pavillion Français at the 100% Design show in London. In 2011 she participated in the " Lampes Tempête" exhibition for Designer’s Days, followed in 2012 by exposing for "L’Emoi du Design" at the Matadero museum in Madrid. In 2013 Élise Fouin participated in the Design Tour, as well as at the Design Biennale in SaintÉtienne. " My approach to materials and handcrafting techniques is particularly enganced thanks to my double training jewelry crafting and design."
