CAN Invest’s activities include:: Innovative ‘niche’ social investment funds that meet the needs of the sector. These include CAN Breakthrough (since 2006), the Community Assets Fund (since 2012), and new funds in pipeline. Sector-leading social impact advisory and consultancy, to frontline social ventures, second-tier support organisations and investment funds Investment readiness services for social ventures This position sits within the CAN Invest team. Depending on the successful candidates’ experience, the role will be a social business analyst or a social business manager. Main purpose of the job: Analyse the social impact of CAN’s social venture clients o (Social Business Manager: lead on social impact projects) Conduct due diligence on social ventures and community enterprises for potential investment o (Social Business Manager: develop and implement DD frameworks) Manage CAN’s social investment funds Support the management of CAN’s relationships with social ventures and corporate partners o (Social Business Manager: lead on client and partner relationships) Support business development and growth of CAN Invest’s activities and services Undertake ad-hoc project work CAN Mezzanine Ltd. CAN Mezzanine T: 020 7250 8000 49 – 51 East Road F: 020 7250 8005 London N1 6AH www.can-online.org.uk Main duties Deliver social impact and social investment readiness projects for CAN Invest clients Project manage CAN’s social investment funds, including managing external partners, investment panel processes, and engaging fund applicants Conduct business analysis and due-diligence on social enterprises and charities for investment Source, analyse and prepare pipeline social ventures for CAN’s investment funds and corporate engagement work Perform (excel) financial and business modelling for social investment purposes and strategic project work Represent CAN and support CAN’s relationships within the social enterprise, finance and impact sectors Contribute to CAN Invest and CAN’s growth through project management, quality assurance, business development and client acquisition Undertake ad-hoc project work to support CAN and CAN Invest’s business development and impact Support the management of advisers and consultants engaged with CAN Invest Provide operational support to other members of the CAN Invest and CAN Team Essential Attributes Experience Skills Other Analysing company financial data and performance for investment Social impact measurement and/or ESG reporting * Applying business expertise to social enterprises and not-for-profits * Business analysis and financial modelling High level of Microsoft Excel use Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills Ability to work in an entrepreneurial and innovative environment Self-starter and solution-orientated attitude Ability to work cross functionally and able to respond flexibly to CAN’s dynamic environment Demonstrable interest in and commitment to social enterprise Desirable Attributes Investor relations and/or fund-raising experience Experience/involvement in public service commissioning Experience in implementing performance measurement processes * These attributes are essential for the Social Business Manager, but only desirable for the Social Business Analyst.
