The Tigers are 34-6 all-time in the tournament, having captured the tournament title in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2005 and 2006. Last season, LSU swept through the Tiger Classic, winning all five games on its way to the NFCA/USA TODAY ESPN/USA SOFTBALL Preseason (1/24/07) Preseason (1/30/07) tournament championship. The Tigers posted two run-rule wins and outscored their opponents 33-1. In the first game, LSU shut out Eastern Michigan 5-0. The Tigers then posted a 9-0 win over Mississippi Valley State in five innings and a 10-0 win over Western Kentucky in six innings. With a 2-0 win over No. 11 Washington, LSU earned the tournament’s top seed entering championship play. The Tigers defeated NO. Western Kentucky 3-1 to advance to the championship game, where LSU again defeated No. 11 Washington, this time 4-0, to claim the championship. ... ABOUT CENTENARY Centenary begins its season in the Easton Tiger Classic. The Ladies went 31-25 last season, including a 13-9 record in the Mid-Continent Conference, good enough for a second-place finish. LSU is 11-0 all-time against Centenary including a 9-1 win in five innings last season in Baton Rouge. The Ladies are the only Mid-Con team to ever face the Tigers. For her career, head coach Yvette Girouard is 39-1 all-time against Centenary, including a 5-0 record while at LSU, with her lone loss to the Ladies coming while she was at UL-Lafayette. ... ABOUT MEMPHIS Memphis begins its season in the Easton Tiger Classic. The Tigers went 28-26 in their inaugural season last year, including a 10-13 record in Conference USA, which placed them seventh. Hobbs is a three-year letterwinner for the Tigers and was a member of LSU's 2004 Women's College World Series team that advanced to within seven outs of the national championship game. After splitting time with Hobbs behind the plate in 2005, Roessner started the entire 2006 season and is a two-year letterwinner.
