AP Chemistry
prepares students for the future
J
osh Lohr and Julia Jankuski, seniors, decided to take
AP Chemistry to help prepare them for college
chemistry classes. Going into the class, they weren't quite sure
what to expect.
"I wasn't sure if I wanted to take the class, but decided to
listen to Mr. Specht's advice and do it anyways," Jankuski said.
According to the seniors, the class is the most demanding
they have ever taken.
"The content we have to learn is very challenging, I have to
study for it almost every night," Lohr said.
Jankuski has always thought that science classes weren't
particulary difficult, but for her, AP chemistry is different.
"You have to study continuously to be successful," Jankuski
said.
Jim Specht, AP chemistry teacher, advises students to take
the challenge and enroll in AP Chem.
"If you put effort and time into this class, chemistry in
college will be a breeze," Specht said.
According to Specht, almost all of his AP Chemistry
students have thrived in their college chemistry classes.
"I have had multiple former students come back and tell
me that taking AP chemistry put them ahead of the game in
their college chemistry classes," Specht said.
The class continued to challenge and cause stress for the
majority of seniors who chose to take it.
"AP Chemistry is an extremely difficult class at times,"
Jankuski said, "But I am pretty sure taking this class will benefit
me in the future."
