Create a Cryptid: Narrative Writing
What is a cryptid = is an animal or plant whose existence has been suggested but has not been
discovered or documented by the scientific community. (Bigfoot, Chenoo, Chupacabra, etc. are
examples of cryptids.)
Directions: Write a 3-4 paragraph narrative about a cryptid. Your narrative can be first person or
third person and must include the following: (You may attach notebook paper to the back if you need more space.)





What your cryptid looks like (How can your reader imagine what your cryptid looks like? Eyes, ears, nose,
mouth, teeth, hair, scales, skin, color, size, feet, legs, speed, etc.?)
The name of your cryptid.
The setting (when and where: day, night, dark, light, forest, city, tunnel, trees, farm, attic, backyard, etc.?)
At least three uses of figurative language (MAPSHO). UNDERLINE these in your narrative.
An image of your cryptid. (This is the LAST thing you will do. No drawing until you have completed the
writing.)
