The banquet was held at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside and was presented by the Fore!Kids Foundation, producers of the PGA TOUR Zurich Classic of New Orleans. For the fourth year in a row, The Kelly Gibson Foundation partnered with several foundations & companies to provide students with college scholarship money, recognizing their academic achievements and community leadership. $175,000 has been awarded to 78 members of the Kelly Gibson Junior Golf Tour since 2010. Scholarships given by The Kelly Gibson Foundation: Four $2,500 scholarships were awarded by the Allstate Sugar Bowl Tommy Moore Memorial Junior Golf Championship: Thomas Ruli, Jr. of Mandeville, Stephen Wall of Madisonville, Beau Briggs of Covington, and Charlotte McLoughlin of Metairie. Two $1,500 scholarships were awarded by Cox Louisiana: Griffin Rogers of Patterson and Natalie Failla of New Orleans. Two $2,000 scholarships were awarded by the Allstate Sugar Bowl: Cole Johnson of Metairie and Bridget Landry of Slidell. One $2,500 scholarship was awarded by Wall Golf for Charity: Emily Pellerin of New Iberia. One $1,000 scholarship was awarded by Brandon’s Birdies: Alexandra Selico-Dunn of New Orleans. Scholarships given by the Fore!Kids Foundation: Taylor Ann Price of Metairie was awarded the $5,000 Mike Rodrigue Scholarship; Alex Anderson of Baton Rouge was awarded the $1,500 Zurich Classic Tournament Chairman Scholarship; and Nick Zimmerman of Slidell was awarded the $1,500 Zurich Classic Title Sponsor Scholarship. Scholarships given by the BC (Barry Hogan & Colin Headrick) Cup Foundation: Lucy Cho of New Orleans, Lauren Aillet of Lafayette, and Nicholas Wessel of Metairie. All winners were equally awarded $3,000. One $2,000 scholarship was awarded by the BC Cup Foundation in the name of Vivian Merk to Jacob Rubi of Metairie. Scholarships given by the New Orleans Golf Association: The two winners of the $2,000 Tommy Moore scholarships were Will Dufour of Gretna and Hunter Theriot of Metairie. The winner of the $2,000 Clarence Steeg Scholarship was Mason Moore of River Ridge. Scholarship given by The Mackel Foundation: Colton Blagrove of Slidell was awarded a $3,000 scholarship. Academy Sports & Outdoors was the presenting partner of the 2013 Player of the Year Awards. The players who earned the most points in the summer tournaments were awarded a trophy as well as a gift card to Academy Sports & Outdoors. The 2013 Player of the Year in each age division: Cassidy Lambert of Gretna (Girls 9-11); Riely Heaslip of Baton Rouge (Girls 12-13); Presley Baggett of Diamondhead, Miss. (Girls 14-15); Taylor Ann Price of Metairie (Girls 16-17); Jennifer Nguyen of Slidell (Girls 18-22); Cameron Guidry of Picayune, Miss. (Boys 9-11); Addison Bui of Harvey (Boys 12-13); Grant Glorioso of Metairie (Boys 14-15); Colin Troxler of Luling (Boys 16-17) and Wyatt Ott of Hammond (Boys 18-22). The Kelly Gibson Junior Golf Tour was founded in 2009 by PGA Tour Professional Kelly Gibson. It is operated by The Kelly Gibson Foundation with the mission of creating a positive learning experience through golf by providing competitive golf tournaments throughout the year. The Tour is open to both male and female golfers ages 9-22, with members competing in junior golf tournaments throughout New Orleans and the Gulf Coast Region. Regardless of the players’ golfing ability, scholarships are awarded based on community service, grade point average and financial need.
