Propaganda Posters
This term we have been reading Loyal Creatures
by Morris Gleitzman.
In the story the main character; Frank, was desperate to
go war.
We have looked at what influenced young Australians to
want to put their lives on the line and learnt about
Propaganda posters which are a type of persuasive text.
We then created our own propaganda posters

From the Principal
What a fantastic turn up to our School Association meeting yesterday afternoon and what a dynamic, purposeful group of parents
and caregivers. Really looking forward to working with the School Association. I also encourage other parents and carers to get
involved in the work of the Association or the fund raising arm of this group. Our Annual General Meeting is scheduled for
Thursday May 4th at 4:30 in the school library so please come along if you are interested.
It’s great to see lots of activities for children getting up and running around Bicheno: Sporting Schools after school Athletics, footy
and Music lessons. Sandra is once again organizing the school May Book Fair. Carrie is also finding out who is interested in
Saturday morning tennis lessons.
We will be holding our first school assembly at 2:10pm on March 21st to celebrate Harmony Day. Please come and join us in the
grade 3/4/5/6 classrooms. Children will be invited to come along to school in national dress or orange to celebrate the diversity
and harmony of our community.
For those families who may not be aware, Mrs Silberberg is a Volunteer Ambulance Officer with the Bicheno Station. This may
mean she is called away from the office without notice and for unknown periods of time. If you come to the office and she is not
at her desk and the “Office is Unattended” sign is on the front counter there will be an clipboard where you can leave your name
and a contact number and Sandra will ring you when she returns.

Welcome to Launching
into Learning 2017
What a fantastic start we have had to the year. Thank you to parents who
contributed their feedback last year. We have taken your suggestions into
consideration and have made some changes to our programmes.
Last week we saw the start of
“Shake it Up Kids” – a musical
playgroup with Victoria
Headlam. Vic will be back this
Friday during our playgroup
session…I wonder what our instrument
of the week will be? Playgroup is held
every Friday from 9am to 10:30am at
Little Penguins Childcare Centre. Please
bring a plate of food. This week, we are
celebrating the Australian classic story
“Wombat Stew” – be ready for some
mud! Next week we are celebrating
Harmony Day, with Vanessa Richardson
coming along to help out with an art
piece that will be entered into the Bay of
Fires Art competition.
