A movement that began in the 1980’s was truly defined in 1992 as United introduced Earth

Bright ideas plus innovative technologies are driving the way to SMART SOLVE ®
– products designed to solve today’s maintenance needs. These Earth Smart ®
products have a vegetable extract as their base material and are: VOC-free,
NPE-free, free of petroleum distillates and chlorinated hydrocarbons, non-caustic, nonacid, non-corrosive and non-toxic. SMART SOLVE® also has a high solvency, with a Kauri
Butanol rating that exceeds most other products.
Devour Power products are specially formulated from a blend of patented gram-positive
bacteria and promicrobials that are designed to quickly break through fats, oils and
grease (FOG). Devour Power contains no added surfactants and has been tested under
the Everett Test protocol to demonstrate that it does not emulsify, suponify or otherwise
mobilize grease…instead it devours it.
United Laboratories is leading the way in environmental reform as we formulate without
Nonylphenol Ethoxylate (NPE) surfactants. Once believed to be safe, it is now understood
that NPE breaks down to Nonylphenol (NP) when it is released into the environment.
The NP is then found in lakes, rivers, streams, wastewater treatment plants and aquatic
sediments. Once in the waterways, NP can be absorbed into the systems of fish, plants,
microorganisms and even humans, where they act as an endocrine disrupting substance
causing such ill effects as reproductive disorders, birth defects, decreased sperm counts
in men and possible links to cancer. While not a regulatory requirement, United has led
this reformation effort to not only improve the environment but also improve product
efficiency. United’s product line is 100% NPE-Free.
Being a part of the Earth Smart® Family, Earth Smart® Acid (ESA) products contain no
phosphates, no VOCs and are non-fuming. They are classified as non-regulated by the
Department of Transportation, eliminating hazardous shipping charges. ESA products are
much safer to use than conventional acid products and are another example of United’s
leading technologies.
With H Factor™ technology, Oxygen combines with organics and Hydrogen is freed in the
process, improving water solubility…the “H Factor™.” The addition of Oxygen to stains,
mold, mildew, slime, scale and deposits eliminates these tough conditions. The results
are better and brighter cleaning.
Harvest Gold products are Earth Smart® solvents created from refined vegetable oils.
Sourced from agriculturally produced, renewable resources from the heartland, they are
ranked zero or one in all HMIS numbers and contain very low organic compounds, giving
off very low odors. Even better, Harvest Gold products provide high solvency, having a
higher Kauri Butanol (KB) rating than most alternatives. They are non-toxic, non-acid,
non-caustic, non-chlorinated and contain no petroleum distillates. Best of all, they’re
readily biodegradable!
Zyme Lyne products are specifically-targeted enzymes that combine with fast-acting
surfactants to cut through dirt, fats, oils, greases and odors. These products are another
fantastic Earth Smart® product line that is rated zeros or ones in all HMIS numbers. Zyme
Lyne products contain no hazardous components and are completely non-toxic. They
contain no VOCs, no acids, no caustics, no phosphates, no alcohols and no petroleum
solvents.
Created from refined fruit and vegetable oils and agriculturally produced, Solar Solvents
have high solvency while being non-toxic, non-caustic, non-chlorinated and containing
no petroleum distillates. Solar Solvents have a pleasant citrus scent and are readily
biodegradable to penetrate, loosen and lift greases, tar and the toughest dirt.
Solar Gold products are formulated with a bio-based blend of materials that penetrate
and lift greases, tar, dirt and grime. This blend is derived of renewable resources
that combine to provide performance while offering lower volatile organic compound
percentages than solar solvents. Solar Gold products are non-toxic, non-caustic, nonchlorinated and contain no petroleum distillates.
