AWARD CRITERIA

The applicant must be a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident of pan-northern Ontario during
the treatment period.

The applicant must be a survivor of childhood cancer or the sibling of a child diagnosed with
childhood cancer.

The applicant must be enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program.
APPLICATION / SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants are required to submit the following:
A letter sharing the applicant’s story telling how childhood cancer has affected his/her life;
A completed Application Form, including the signed “Applicant’s Consent to Release
Information”;
Proof of registration at a post-secondary institution (letter from Registrar); and
Proof of diagnosis.
The selection will be made by the NOFCC Selection Committee. Completed application packages are to be
post-marked no later than August 31st each year.
Note: An individual can receive the bursary only once during his/her post-secondary education, although
this program will be reevaluated yearly based on funding, and may be offered more than once per year, if
funding allows. If not selected in one year, a person may apply for succeeding years. A new completed
Application Form and Proof of Registration are the only two items required for successive applications.
AWARD PRESENTATION
The selection process will be completed and the announcement of successful recipients’ names made by
the end of September each year.
Successful recipients will be informed of presentation arrangements.
