Get To Know Your SmartVP Remote
SmartVP Remote Buttons
SmartVP comes with a powerful, easy-to-use remote control designed to make
your calling and entertainment experience the best ever.
1.
“Accounts” Button: Use this to add up to five accounts. You can also use this
button to view all accounts listed on your SmartVP.
2. “Contacts” Button: Access all of your contacts with just one click. Add, edit
or delete contacts from the contact screen.

3. “History” Button: Stores missed, received and dialed calls.
4. “Keyboard” Button: Press this button to use the onscreen keyboard.
5. “Arrow” and “OK” Buttons: Use these buttons to navigate keyboard and
screens, as well as use the back arrow to delete characters while typing.
6. “Picture within a Picture/Full-Screen Mode” Button: Adjusts the picture
within a picture, gives a side-by-side video option or allows the caller to
appear on the entire screen.

“Hang Up/Ignore” Button: Press this button to hang up or ignore a call.
8. “Camera Zoom” Button: Use the arrow keys to adjust your camera settings.
9. “ON/OFF” Button: Currently this button is unavailable. This does not affect
SmartVP functionality or operability.
10. “PurpleMail™” Button: View, save and delete messages, as well as record
your own personal PurpleMail outgoing message.
11. “Home” Button: Press this button to return to SmartVP’s home screen.
12. “Back” Button: Press this button to return to the screen you were last on.

13. “Call/Answer” Button: Press this button to make or answer a call.

14. “Alpha-Numeric Keypad” Buttons: Use these buttons to dial numbers and
operate other SmartVP features.
15. “Audio” Button: Turn the microphone on or off.
16. “Video Privacy” Button: Turn video privacy function on or off.

Using the Home Screen
Dial a number at any time

Using your remote control “Arrow/OK” buttons, press the “Right” arrow.

Using the Call History Screen
1.
Call: Enter the number you wish to call and click the “Call/Answer” or “OK”
button on your remote control.
2. Call History: View calls received, made and missed, and delete call history.
3. Contacts: Access or add a contact.
4. PurpleMail: View, save and delete messages, as well as record your own
personal PurpleMail outgoing message.
5. Find it: Find and call online Yellow Pages® business listings in your area.
6. Applications: Check the weather, watch videos from YouTube and from the
Deaf movie library, and find out where the latest captioned movie is playing
in your area.
7.
Settings: Choose calling preferences, time zone, personal screen saver
and more.
8. Help: Easily contact Purple Customer Care and check for software updates.
9. Call 911: Quickly connect to emergency services.

Using your remote control, highlight the “Call History” screen.
2. Choose an option (“All,” “Missed,” “Today,” Yesterday,” “7 Days,” “30 Days”
or “Clear History”).
3. Highlight the person you wish to call and press the “Call/Answer” or “OK”
button on your remote control.
4. Your call will be answered momentarily.

Adding a Contact
1.
Using your remote control, highlight “Contacts.”
2. Highlight the “Add Contact”
icon.
3. Enter contact information.
4. Highlight “Confirm” and press “OK.”
Using PurpleMail™
Recording an Outgoing PurpleMail Message
1.
Press the “PurpleMail” button located on your remote control.

Using your remote control “Arrow/OK” buttons, highlight the “PurpleMail”
icon and press “2.”
2. Press “1” and then press “2” to record a new outgoing message.
3. Record your message and press “1” to end recording.
4. Press “1” to watch your message. If you are satisfied with your message,
press “4” to exit, or press “2” to record a new message.
Viewing, Saving and Deleting PurpleMail Messages
1.
Press the “PurpleMail” button located on your remote control.
Monday through Friday
9 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET/ 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. PT
Saturday
10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET / 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. PT

Purple Customer Care Hours
Using your remote control “Arrow/OK” buttons, highlight the
“PurpleMail” icon.
2. Choose an option (“Manage mailbox” or “Clear all messages”)
and press “OK.”
3. Under “Manage mailbox,” press “2” to customize settings or “3” to exit.
4. To erase messages, click “Clear all messages” and press “Confirm.”
Call 911
If you or someone in your household needs emergency medical attention,
highlight the “Call 911” icon located on your SmartVP home screen and press the
“Call/Answer” or “OK” button. Your call will be answered momentarily.
