Hypothesis Task 1
Task: 1. Underline the IV; 2. Circle the DV; 3. Decide whether the following are directional or
non-directional hypotheses.
1.
There will be a significant difference in the amount of sweat produced by participants
who play sport in comparison to participants who do not play sport.
2.
Participants who walk for 2 hours a day will significantly increase their fitness levels in
comparison to those who do not walk for 2 hours each day.
3.
There will be a significant difference in the level of blushing between participants who
are embarrassed and participants who are not embarrassed.
4.
Participants who eat more chocolate will be significantly heavier than those who do not
eat chocolate.
5.
There will be a difference in the level of sound heard by participants who are asked to
put cotton wool in their ears and those not asked to put cotton wool in their ears.
6.
Participants that take vitamins daily will have fewer health problems in comparison to
participants who do not take daily vitamins.
7.
Participants who are around a person with a frown will rate their mood as significantly
more negative in comparison to participants who are around a person smiling.
8.
Participants that more attractive will be rated as more likeable compared to
participants that are unattractive.
9.
There will be a significant difference in the number of words participants will remember
before lunch than after lunch.
10.
Boys will take less time to run one mile compared to girls.
