Editorial note
This is the first issue of the re-titled ‘International Cataloguing & Bibliographic Control’
(ICBC). It was felt that the former title (International Cataloguing) had become too
restrictive. The new title better expresses the full range of interests of the UBCIM
Programme. We hope our readers will see this as IFLA’s journal of bibliographic control in
all its aspects, taking full account of changes in traditional disciplines brought about by the
application of new technology. The contents will remain as before: a mix of news items and
brief reviews, longer business reports or papers read at IFLA conferences, and other
informative articles. In the case of the latter, the opinions expressed are those of the authors,
not necessarily of IFLA.
We would like to know what our readers think of the new style and content of ICBC. All
correspondence, manuscripts, and books for review should be sent to the editor, Winston
Roberts, at the UBCIM office.
