A brief history of Court Running and Law Firm
Agents in Edmonton
Court Running started in
Edmonton over 35 years ago
when a few individuals acting
as Agents for Law Firms
began liaising documents to
and from the Court House.
The Agent charged a fee to
provide the service of acting
as a runner, but also provided
additional services such as
date stamping and truing-up of
court documents. The service
also included related areas in
government such as Land
Titles, Central Registry, and
Corporate Registry.
When privatization occurred in
1993, service delivery of
products such as Motor
Vehicles, Personal Property,
and Land Title searches began
to be offered by the private
sector. Service and turnaround
