Job Description Programme Manager – Zambia Salary: £26,000-£28,000/year Location: Lusaka, Zambia Duration: 24 months (renewable) Reports to: Country Representative – Zambia Background THET is a specialist global health organisation that educates, trains and supports health workers through partnerships, strengthening health systems and enabling people in low and middle income countries to access essential healthcare. Purpose Support the THET Zambia programme team in working with partners to ensure delivery of high quality programmes and demonstrate success to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner. Contribute to the strategy and design of THET projects in Zambia. Key responsibilities 1. Programme delivery Support the planning and timely implementation of programme and capacity building activities to ensure high quality of delivery and assist the team in addressing any challenges. Direct responsibility for volunteer management including; logistics (ensuring that travel arrangements are in place and clearly communicated to volunteers); human resources (ensuring that relevant documents are on file with THET and shared with partners as appropriate); security (ensuring that volunteers are briefed on THET’s safety and security policies and procedures on arrival in-country); and trouble-shooting (providing support and supervision to short- and long-term volunteers as appropriate). Monitor spend against budget for projects as designated by the Country Representative and assist the team in taking appropriate actions where necessary. Support the design and delivery of monitoring and evaluation activities, seeking to demonstrate results and impact wherever possible. Work closely with programme partners and other team members to identify and assess needs, to develop plans and support new projects as appropriate. Provide timely input for high quality narrative and financial reports for donors. 2. Communications Represent THET at external meetings with donors, NGOs and partners in Zambia and the UK and maintain positive relationships Facilitate excellent coordination of programme activities and planning between internal and external stakeholders Contribute to raising awareness of the programme and disseminating good practice by identifying and developing communications material for internal and external use such as case studies and articles 3. Programme coordination Provide support to the Country Representative and contribute to the development of strategic plans, policies and position papers. Work with the Country Representative to prepare high quality funding proposals to secure resources for the programme Deputise for the Country Representative as necessary and relevant Maintain effective administrative systems and ensure that programme information is easily accessible to all THET colleagues Undertake other tasks as may be required, commensurate with experience. Person characteristics Substantial work experience, preferably including living or working in a developing country Degree level education, preferably in health or international development Excellent programme and staff management and capacity building experience Monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment skills Excellent financial skills (budget preparation and monitoring) Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills Good IT skills (Word and Excel) Excellent organisational and administrative skills Flexibly and adaptability in the context of working within a small organisation and in a complex environment Sympathy with THET’s objectives Please apply via Charity Job at http://www.charityjob.co.uk.
