ST. PATRICK WHITE LAKE SCHOOL DRESS CODE St. Patrick School community believes in developing the value of self-respect for others in the area of dress and personal grooming. A student’s exterior dress sets an atmosphere and tone for the important task of education. The students are expected to adhere to the following dress code on all school days. All items must be purchased from one of the school suppliers, Pro Stitch or Educational Outfitters. An occasional “out of uniform” day will be announced through the office. Acceptable attire must be worn on “Out of Uniform” days. All clothes should fit properly and be in compliance with dress code regulations. If in doubt, do not wear! Administration and staff will determine compliance with all dress code regulations. If a violation occurs, a phone call will be made to parents to request proper clothes immediately. Further consequences of dress code violations will be determined by the staff. Pants (Boys or Girls) Uniform Navy Pants for Grades K-5 Khaki Pants for Grades 6-8 Uniform shorts may be worn in the first and fourth quarters of school (appropriate length-see skirt rules) How to Wear It Must be worn at the waist Must be worn with a solid black or brown belt Belt must be visible Belts with rivets or grommets are not allowed Jumpers/Skorts/Skirts Uniform Plaid Jumpers for Grades K‐5 Plaid Skorts for Grades K-5 Plaid Skirts for Grades 6‐8 How to Wear It Jumper and skirt length is to be no shorter than two inches above the top of the kneecap Skirts cannot be rolled and must be worn at the waist Uniform bike shorts or tights are to be worn under jumpers or skirts Pants may be worn under jumpers or skirts to and from school or at recess only Shirts/Blouses Uniform Boys in Grades K-5: Cotton polo shirts in white or red with St. Patrick logo Girls in Grades K-5: Peter Pan collar blouses or cotton polo in white (can be a banded bottom) or red w/ St. Patrick logo Boys and Girls in Grades 6-8: Cotton polo or oxford style shirts/blouses in white (girls can be banded bottom cotton polo) or hunter green with St. Patrick logo How to Wear It Shirt must be tucked into the pants or skirt Only the top button of the shirt may be unbuttoned Solid white, short-sleeved t-shirt or undershirt may be worn underneath uniform shirt Undershirt sleeves should not extend beyond the sleeves of the uniform shirt Sweaters/Jackets Uniform Hunter green half-zip fleece with St. Patrick logo Hunter green/ navy cardigan, pullover, or vest style sweater Green St. Patrick gym jacket with logo th 8 graders may wear their class jacket *All sweaters/jackets must be purchased from Pro Stitch and/or Educational Outfitters How to Wear It Sweaters/Jackets should be neat and clean Sleeves may not be rolled up during the school day Hoodies are not allowed during the school day but may be worn during recess and on casual days Shoes and Socks Uniform All shoes, not including shoes for P.E., must be one or two solid colors, nothing bright or neon, they must be neutral colored, such as: Black, white, brown, beige, gray, or navy. This includes logos & laces. Tennis shoes, must be cut below the ankle and discreet Socks must be solid white, black, hunter green or navy White socks that say St. Patrick in green may be worn Girls in Grades 6-8 may wear flesh tone nylons How to Wear It Shoes with laces should be tied at all times Not acceptable: Brightly colored, neon or light up shoes, jellies, flip-flops, sling-backs or “croc” style shoes, open toe, basketball or high-top shoes, moccasins or slipper type shoes *This list is not all inclusive and is at the discretion of the administration. Boots are to be worn to and from school or at recess only Socks/tights must be worn at all times Hair Uniform Hair must be a natural color as well as neat and clean at all times Hair decorations are limited to the optional choices available in the uniform catalogue Sports headbands may be worn but must be a solid color that goes with the uniform How to Wear It Boys’ hair is to be above the ears, eyebrows and collar Excessive fad haircuts or styles are not permitted * Students not in compliance are issued a dress code violation and given one week to fix the issue before further consequences occur. Jewelry and Make-up Uniform Only religious necklaces are permitted One bracelet or simple wristwatch may be worn Small, simple earrings are acceptable Make-up is not allowed Girls may wear only clear nail polish Uniform St. Patrick t-shirts (black or white, with logo) Green warm-up pants or Black sweat pants Optional gym jacket Mesh shorts (green only, no logo) must be worn for P.E. An extra pair of tennis shoes must be kept in school How to Wear It One earring per ear worn on the earlobe No dangling/hoop earrings Boys may not wear earrings Physical Education Days How to Wear It Gym shoes are worn only in P.E. class Students in Grades 5-8 must change into a school uniform shirt after gym class Uniform or green warm-up pants must be worn the rest of the school day Sports, Scouts and Clubs Uniform Cheerleading uniforms and St. Patrick team jerseys may be worn on the Friday before a home game Standard scouting uniforms may be worn on meeting days Student Council members may wear StuCo t-shirts on meeting days How to Wear It No casual scouting uniforms, such as jogging sets, sweatshirts, etc. are considered acceptable Casual Dress Day Uniform Appropriate non-uniform dress is to be worn Blouses/shirts must cover the shoulder and go down to the hips with an appropriate neck line Not permitted: Tank tops, torn clothes, inappropriate tshirts, skin-tight or low-rise pants, yoga pants or leggings, logos on the seat of pants, tight or revealing attire, clothing that promotes media or actions contrary to St. Patrick School policies How to Wear It Parents should carefully review shirts and pants with mottos, graphics, and ads Pants must be worn at the waist Shorts or skirts, when permitted, must be no shorter than two inches above the knee Socks must be worn at all times and flip-flops are not allowed Dress Up Day Uniform Dress pants and collared shirts for boys Dresses and skirts of appropriate length (no shorter than two inches above the knee) or dress pants for girls.
