birds to their freedom.

Granuaile
Granuaile is inspired by the historical pirate of the 17th century who ruled the coastal waters of the
West of Ireland. Known in England as Grace O’Malley she met with Queen Elizabeth I,
on equal terms and agreed to allow English vessels to sail freely in Irish waters.
Ava
Torc
The Torc Series is based on the ancient Celtic neck ornament which was widely used as an adornment
in early Irish culture. This sculpture pays tribute to the skillful craftsmanship of these
ancient relics, linking past tradition to the present time.
Eternity
Eternity features three figures soaring into the sky surrounded by twelve doves.
An edition of this sculpture was purchased by the Cork City Council and resides in their
The New City Hall on the banks of the River Lee.

Lovers Seat
Lover’s Seat reflects the courting practice of bygone days when lovers where chaperoned.
Lovewings
St. Ita
St. Ita was born in Waterford in the 5th century. She founded a monastery near Limerick
and fostered and educated young boys, the most famous being St. Brendan the Navigator.
Geronitus
Positioned in the splendid gardens of Champshill, a private recording studio and concert room in
West Sussex, this sculpture explores the theme of music and the uplifting quality that music
brings to our lives. It is inspired by ‘The Dream of Gerontius’ by Elgar.

Exploring the theme of the Zodiac this sculpture represents the artist wearing
the constellation of her lover’s star sign, Taurus.

The Gift commemorates the artist’s birthday gift of orchids from her father.
One of the blooms was cast to complete the sculpture.

The Centaurs were a people of Thessaly, Greece, mythological figures, half man, half horse.

Our lives are like boats at sea, we are constantly moving. At times we have great purpose
and move forward to the next destination swiftly but at other times
we tread water and let fate pull us along.

and the Committee of Kilkerley National School where the artists
grandchildren will spend their early years.
Drifting
The theme of figures with boats or leaves echoes the passing of time and our passage through life.

Ellen was created to celebrate Ellen McArthur’s solo voyage around the world.
