Lucas & Katelyn
Dear Birth Mother,
There is no way we can adequately express our gratitude that you
are reading our bio. We are humbled that you are considering us to
adopt your precious baby. We can only imagine how difficult this
choice must be. We admire your strength and courage as you try to
decide what is best you and your child and will ensure that your child
knows that your decision was made out of the selfless kind of love
that only a mother knows. We are praying that God will give you
peace and clarity as you consider your options.
If you choose to place your child with us, we promise to give your
child a safe and loving home. We will teach him or her about the love
of Christ and the sacrifice of love He gave, not unlike your own. Our
marriage is strong and our community is solid. Our area is culturally
diverse and we have a beautiful neighborhood. We have tons of
family and friends who will surround your child with support and are
excited to be a part of his or her life. Both sets of parents are ready
for more grandkids and both are so excited and supportive of our
adoption! Please know that even though none of them have met you
or your child, they are praying for you already.
We would love to share pictures and letters with you and would be
happy to plan 2-4 visits a year doing fun activities like visiting the zoo
or meeting up for root beer floats. Kate likes to make photo books
and would be happy to make one for you every year if you would
like. We would be more than happy to send texts or emails as well!
We would be honored to meet you and figure out what will work
best for you.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering us!
God bless you,
Lucas & Katelyn

Katelyn
My family has always been very close. I am the only daughter in
between two boys and I love my relationship with my brothers.
Growing up, my parents were always very supportive of us (including
when I wanted to play baseball on the all-boys team, good thing that
only lasted one summer because I was not very good). My mom was
a stay-at-home mom and a wonderful example of selfless love.
Because of her, it is my dream to one day stay at home and provide
the same level of love and care to my own children. Being the only
girl also led to a special relationship with my dad, who was always
my biggest fan.
Holidays are also a special time for family. One of our favorites is for
each year on New Year's Eve, we all get together at my grandma's
house to play games, eat snacks, and watch Johnny Carson re-runs. It
is still one of our most favorite events each year. We often get
together for summer holidays like Memorial Day or 4th of July and
have a cook out and play corn hole (which the one game I can
actually beat my brothers at sometimes!). One tradition Lucas and I
have started in our own little family is on Christmas Eve we drag our
mattress down to the living room and open stockings and watch
movies and sleep by the fireplace. We look forward to continuing
this tradition with kids someday.

Growing up, I looked up to my dad with a lot of respect. He has
always been a faithful provider, but not just of a paycheck. He made
sure to spend time with us, playing games with us when we were
little, he taught us to water ski when we were older, and he took
responsibility to teach me the life skills I would need to make my
way in the world on my own when I moved out. My dad believes
strongly in personal responsibility, but also in generosity: “work
hard so you have something to share” he would say. My mom and I
had a good relationship growing up and it’s sweetened as I’ve
gotten older. She worked hard, helped with our homework, was
sensitive and caring. My mom loves sharing our lives and we all look
up to her. We all look forward to her monthly Sunday lunches!
Every year, my 3 siblings and I looked forward to family vacation,
which was always a week or so in a rented cabin in Kentucky or
Tennessee. We would spend the week swimming, playing mini-golf,
watching cartoons, and hiking as a family. It was a blast and
definitely a tradition I plan to carry on for my family! Still today, my
parents organize a yearly family cabin vacation, now typically in
Southern Indiana (Brown County) where we all try gather with our
families and spend a few days relaxing and exploring the local sites
in Brown County.

Katelyn’s thoughts
about our relationship
On the list of a billion things I love about Lucas, if I HAD to pick
favorite things I would start with his love for the Lord and
desire to lead our family well. He has a strong work ethic and a
desire to learn about new things. Lucas is an extremely patient
teacher. I've watched him teach a 4-year-old how to yo-yo, and
he's been trying to teach me to drive stick shift. I love how
Lucas can handle any situation that comes his way, staying
calm and doing everything he can to take care of those he
loves. Lucas shows me love in his actions and through his
words. He has a great sense of humor, which is very important
to me because I like to laugh and to make others laugh. He is
generous with his time and money and never makes excuses to
get out of serving opportunities. I know he'll be a great dad... I
first saw this when we helped out with vacation bible school at
our church and how playful he was with tons of little kids! I
never saw Lucas hold babies much until our niece and nephew
were born, but it has been so adorable to watch him with
them. My heart melts each time baby Elizabeth decides to take
a nap in his arms.
Lucas’ thoughts
about our relationship
I was immediately attracted to Kate when we first met not
only because she was super cute, but because she was
extremely quick witted and funny. Kate is independent,
organized, intelligent, kind, deliberate, plans, and makes things
happen. I knew that Kate would be able to handle whatever
came our way in life, all while effectively caring for our home
and family. And she’s gorgeous on top of it all. I know Kate will
be a wonderful mother, because despite our struggle with fertility
and all the emotions that carries with it, Kate adores our little niece
and nephew more than anything. I smile every time I watch her run
across a picture of our little niece Elizabeth, and just melt because
she’s “SOOO cute!!!” Kate and I enjoy babysitting for friends, and I
just love watching Kate with the kids. Whether it’s getting everyone
situated at the table for dinner, playing Candyland with little
Charlotte and Oliver, or getting everyone’s teeth brushed before
bed, Kate does it so well! I can’t wait to raise a child with her.

Home and Community
Our home is two stories with 4 bedrooms, just waiting to
welcome a sweet baby. Our front door opens up into a bright
entryway and continues to into the family room, which has big
windows that look into our wooded backyard. Our
neighborhood is very nice with lots of families, including some
of our own friends from our church. There is a new park being
built within walking distance of our home. Neither of us grew
up in a neighborhood, so it's been new (and fun!) for us to have
trick-or-treaters! We chose our home because of the safety of the
neighborhood, and also its proximity to good school systems
and our church. We are very involved in the various
ministries at our local church. The school system that our
children would attend is highly rated in the state of
Indiana! We also love the diversity represented in our
community and schools.
Why Adoption?
We discussed wanting to adopt before we even struggled with
infertility. We decided to try to start a family in June 2015, and
found out we were pregnant in November that year.
Unfortunately, the pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks
for unknown reasons. We were heartbroken, but still hopeful
and trying to live out our faith by continuing to trust God with
his plan for our life. Over the next 8 months we were unable to
get pregnant, and Kate developed some symptoms that led to
the discovery of a large cyst on her ovary requiring surgical
removal. While in surgery, it was discovered that Kate has
endometriosis (who knew?). Four months later the cyst
returned requiring more surgery. It was during this time that
we decided perhaps God isn't opening the door for biological
children yet because He wants us to start our family through
adoption. We are excited to trust God on this journey. Our
church is large and diverse and we have endless resources of
families that have adopted domestically or internationally so
there will be many ready to love and support us and our child.
Thank you for considering us!
