President’s Message
Principal’s Message
I want to start with a big thank you to all parents that
helped out at Fall Festival. Between class booths and
help setting up and cleaning up, all could not have
been done without all of you.
At Arroyo Verde, we strive to ensure that we provide your
child with a high quality instructional program and continue
to maintain fun, family based community programming as
well. This is one of the many reasons we rely so heavily on our
PTA. This month, PTA worked tirelessly to balance our
instructional rigor with amazing events for our families. As
I hope everyone had a great time at Fall Festival. We
had a great turn out this year.
You may have noticed that from Fall Festival we went
right into Red Ribbon Week. I hope the kids all had a
great time and talked to you about the fun things that
they were doing. We have our first Barnes and Noble reward night
coming up on November 8th. There is going to be a
drawing for all students that have met their AR goal.
We will pick 10 names and those students chosen will
be invited to Barnes and Noble and will be given a $10
gift card when they get there. So talk to your student
and see if they have met that goal. We will do this at
the end of each trimester. We will also have our
Barnes and Noble night at the end of November. Last thing is, if you have not had a chance to come by
for Coffee with the Principal you should try and come
out the next one. This is a great way to find out what
is going on at the school and to share any ideas that
you might have for the school.
Thank you again to all! Like I said we could not get
any of the fun things done at school without all of
you.

PTA President
the accountability requirements by the state and federal
government rise, our teachers push themselves and their
students to learn at higher levels. We are so proud of our 227
students who scored Advanced and Proficient on last year’s
California Standards Test, and are thankful that so many
families were able to join us for our first ever CST Awards
Night. Our school boasted twelve perfect scores on last year’s
exam, many of them coming from our 5th grade classrooms.
As a school we celebrated a twenty point gain on the State’s
accountability system, taking our API score to 869. When you
balance these academic achievements with our biggest Fall
Festival attendance ever, Reflections, and an amazing Red
Ribbon Week, it’s easy to understand why so many families
love Arroyo Verde.
With November upon us, it is time for parents and teachers to
come together to talk about student success. Parents and
teachers share a common goal; we all want every child to
learn and do well in school. On our website under Parent
Resources, is a tip sheet for parents & guardians to help make
the most out of your parent teacher conference. Check out
this valuable resource from the Harvard Family Research
Project. Even if you are a parent teacher conference veteran, I
think you will appreciate the simple suggestions offered.
Your conference should be a two-way conversation with a
focus on how well your child is doing at school, and plans on
how to make it even better. We look forward to welcoming
each family to campus so we can work with you to ensure that
your child is college bound!
