The Adventures
of Perseus
by Ned Bennett
Tuesday 16th, Wednesday 17th
& Thursday 18th June
2.30pm at 50 Nightingale Lane
Class 2 at 50 Nightingale Lane are deep in rehearsals preparing for their performances this week of The Adventures of Perseus, written by Mr Ned Bennet,
formerly an assistant at 50 Nightingale Lane. We would be grateful if nannies
and younger siblings could attend the dress rehearsals as the main performances will be filmed and we require total silence during the play. Tea will be served
after each performance in the Library at 50 Nightingale Lane.
Cast out to sea from his homeland at birth, but miraculously rescued, Perseus must protect his mother from the wicked King Polydectes. On his journey,
with help from the goddess Athena and the god Hermes and also the fearless
Ghostbusters, he will have to face the weird grey sisters, and battle with the terrifying gorgon Medusa to accomplish his task.

National Bike Week
ls interhouse music
To support National Bike Week we are encouraging
as many children as possible to cycle to school (even
if it means parking the car a little further away and
cycling the last bit). All cyclists will receive a bicycle
badge. Cycle Corner available on Saturday 13 June
behind Sainsburys, Balham – they will be handing out
cycle maps, free gifts and advice to help you get out
and about on your bike safely.
The Interhouse Music Competition is on Friday 19
June, 2.00 in St Luke’s Hall. Children have been
through heats to be chosen to represent their house in
this very exciting competition. The Instrumental sections are piano, guitar, trumpet, woodwind and violin
and animals are the theme this year. All the children at
No.50 are also rehearsing very hard with their house
mistresses for the house choir competition.

abseiling
On Saturday, in the cold and rain, five very brave
people from Broomwood Hall (Mr McOrist, Miss Vote,
Mrs Bull, Mrs Copeland and Mr Drummond) abseiled
down the side of Guy’s Hospital. This is the tallest
hospital tower in London, and trust me it looks even
taller looking up, to say nothing of what it is like looking down! They completed this terrifying feat and have
raised over £3,000. Well done everyone, and a special
mention for Vicarage Gap Oliver Drummond who went
down face first! Photos are on the website.
