UNDER 9 MAGPIES
ROUND 14 --- SAT 25 JAN v Forest Cubs at St Matthews Farm
This was a funny game in that it never really reached any great heights and the winning margin
didn’t feel like it was going to be as big as it was while the game was going on.
Our batting was still showing signs of rust from the Christmas / New Year break as 39 out of our
54 hits were only singles. Pick of the batters were Nathan McManus with a home run and two
triples, Kai Turner with two triples and Jamie Wall with a triple and two doubles.
Our fielding was up and down but 9 of the 10 players made at least one out so it was still a good
effort. We just weren’t as clinical as we normally are though there were some definite highlights.
Kai Garlick was involved in all three outs in the first inning at 2nd Base but the play of the day
was Joel Andrews (fielding at 2nd Base) fielding the ball and throwing it to Finn Walsh (fielding at
short stop) to make the out at 2nd. To see Finn moving from his position to get to 2nd to take the
throw was brilliant to see as these sort of plays very rarely happen at an Under 9 level. As a
coach, it was really pleasing to see that the work we have been doing at training is sinking in
and paying off in a game situation.
This week’s “player of the week” though was Joel Andrews who, as well as making five outs at
2nd Base, cracked two doubles with the bat in a standout display.

UNDER 11 DINGOES
ROUND 11 --- WED 29 JAN v Pittwater Dolphins at Rat Park
A beautiful Wednesday night saw us playing Pittwater down at Rat Park.
In the first inning, the Dingoes really turned it on! Maybe it was the kids going back to school
and needing to get out some frustration, but man, the boys rocked it! We had Josh walked, then
Danny hit a single to send Josh to 2nd. Josh then stole 3rd, as Danny stole 2nd. Xander was then
walked, giving us bases loaded. Xavier also was walked, sending Josh home. Jax took one for
the team, getting hit with a ball, sending Dan home. Another walk to Andrew, sent Xan
home. Robert was also walked, sending Xav home, then Jake hit a single, sending Jax
home. Dylan was also walked, which sent Andrew home, giving us 6 runs and needing to swap
sides. Jax then struck out 3 batters, with Pittwater only getting 2 runs in, leaving it 6-2 to the
Dingoes at end of first innings.
The second and third innings went pretty quickly, with 3 strikeouts and Josh taking one for the
team, also stealing 2nd and 3rd. No runs were scored. In the outfield, Jax struck out a batter,
Danny got a player out on first, and Robert went in to pitch and struck out a batter, with Pittwater
getting 3 runs in, making it a tight 6-5 going into 3rd innings. It was a quick 2 strikeouts to the
Dingoes, with Jax getting walked and stealing 2nd and third, leaving him on base with another
strikeout. Pittwater also remained scoreless.
Into the 4th, we were still at 6-5, the Dingoes in the lead. We got 3 strikeouts in a row, leaving
us on 6 runs. Pittwater then took the field, and managed to get 2 over the plate, calling the
game at 7-6. It was a really close game, and all the boys really performed well!
Congrats on a great game to Josh, Danny, Xan, Xavier, Michael, Jax, Andrew, Rob, Jake,
Dylan, Callum and Bel! Thanks also to our scorers and to all parents and families for attending
to cheer on our Dingoes!

ROUND 14 --- SAT 25 JAN v Forest Diamondbacks at St Matthews Farm
A warm Saturday morning, home game at St Matts - Dingoes v Forest Diamondbacks. The
Dingoes were short on players with some away on leave, and Will sporting a broken arm due to
a skateboard incident but they soldiered on with a borrowed player.
Top of the First - Xavier pitching.Batter on first, good hit – Mike good fielding great throw to
Dylan at first base - Batsman out. Some good pitching, but Forest managed to score 6.
Bottom of the First - Mike struck out, Andy struck out. Dylan – good hit but straight to fielder and
out at first base. No score for the Dingoes.
Top of the 2nd - Dylan pitching. Good hit by batter, but even better fielding from Andy at 3rd
base. Great throw to first and great catch by Josh. Batter out. 2nd batter struck out…. Yay
Dylan! Some more good pitching from Dylan, with more good fielding from Andy catching one
out…… Forest 1 run scored.
Bottom of the 2nd - Jake good hit and run to 1st base. Josh walked - Jake snuck to 3rd
Xavier struck out, but Josh snuck to 2nd. Cal – Good solid hit…. 3 inches higher and would
have been a homer, but good fielding from Forest and Cal was caught….Jake out... No score
for the Dingoes.
Top of the 3rd - Dylan pitching. Two batters struck out (Go Dylan!!!!), and 1 tagged by Jake. …
Forest only got 1 home.
Bottom of the 3rd - Danny good hit, run to 1st, Rowan walked to first – Danny stole to 3rd. Mike
– walked to first – Rowan moved to 2nd. Loaded bases. (Tension building). Andy hit high ball in
to infield – Mayhem…lots of screaming from the sidelines… OUT!...(bummer). Dylan – struck
out… unlucky. Still loaded bases and blood pressure rising…Jake – Smacked what looked like
a sure homer with loaded bases, (more screaming) ….but hit Dingoe on 2nd base which
stopped ball dead and resulted in a run out. (exhale).
Top of the 4th - Danny pitching. Ball hit straight to pitcher, Danny threw to Xavier on 1st base.
Batter out. Go boys! 2nd Batter struck out. Good pitching Danny. Forest then managed to get 6
home.
Bottom of the 4th - Josh – walk to first, Xavier – walked to first, Josh on 2nd. Cal – Good hit, run
to first, Xavier out on 2nd, but Josh ran home. Go Josh! (Cal 1RBI)….. more screaming from the
sidelines. Danny – good hit, but good catch by Forest, double play getting Cal out running to
2nd.

ROUND 14 --- SAT 25 JAN v Dragons Fighters at St Matthews Farm
The Brumbies were supposed to play the Dragons Fighters at home on W4 but unfortunately
the Dragons had to forfeit and advised us late Friday afternoon. That was a shame as we
always enjoy playing them.
