Note:Ifyouseeared“brokenchainlink”iconintheupper-rightcornerofyouriCab screen,refertoWiFiTroubleshootingattheendofthisdocument. 3 NavigatingThroughiCab’sViews TherearetwowaystomovearoundwithintheiCabApp.First,toswitchbetween devices(Trains,Switches,Accessories,etc.)taponeofthelabeledNavigationKeysto changemodes. Swipingtoaccessadditionalscreens Tomovearoundwithineachdevice’scontrolsandsettings,usea“swipe”gesture. Touchandholdafingerwithinthehighlightedareaofthescreenshownbelow.Without liftingyourfinger,dragup,down,leftorright.Dependingonthecurrentcontext,each ofthesedirectionsmayrevealanewviewtoexplore. 4 TheEngineScreen Herearetheelementsofthemainscreen: TMCCID#andNameofActiveEngine DisplaystheTMCCID#(1-98)andlocomotivename—thesameinformationshownon yourCAB2remote(seeSelectingtheActiveEnginebelow). WiFiConnectionStatus ShowsagreenchainlinkiconwhenconnectedtoaLionelcommandbase.Aredbroken linkiconisshownifnobaseispresent.Withoutaconnectiontothecommandbase,you can’trunalocomotive.SeeWiFiTroubleshootingattheendofthisdocumentformore info. Throttle/SpeedGraph Touchanddragtochangelocomotivespeed.Showstargetandactualspeedofthe activelocomotive. NavigationButtons ChoosebetweencontrollingEngines,Trains,Switches,RoutesorAccessories. 5 SoftKeys Thesoftkeypanelscanbechangeddependingontheactiveenginetype,accessory, switchoperation,etc.Touchandswipeleftorrighttochangeoperatingkeys(where applicable).Touchandswipeupordowntosetengine/otherparametersandcommand basesettings. Whistle,BellDirectionandHaltKeys ThesekeyswillappearinalliCaboperatingscreens.ForLegacylocomotives,slidingyour fingerupanddownthewhistlebuttonwillcontrolthe“quillingwhistle”featureofyour engine. SelectingtheActiveEngine Fromtheenginescreen,taptheorangeENGbuttonasecondtime.Thischangesthe SoftKeyscreentoanumerickeypad(belowleft).Selectanenginebytypingina1or2 digitIDnumber,followedbytheEnterKey. 6 SelectanEnginefromtheRoster Alternately,chooseanenginefromtheRosterlist(Legacycommandbaseonly).Hitthe Rosterbuttononthenumerickeypad(aboveleft)andtheRosterscreenappears(above right). Tochooseanengine,touchitonthelist.Forexample,tappingROCKISLANDGP9(The firstentryunder“Diesel”)willmakethatengineactiveandautomaticallyreturnyouto theoperatingscreen.TheEngineID#/NAMEdisplaywillbeupdatedwiththenewActive Engineinfo. Forconvenience,theRosterlistcanalsobesortedbyTMCCID#. OtherRosterCommands IfyouwanttoleavetheRosterwithoutchoosinganengine,tap“CabView”intheupper leftcorner.Finally,tappingRefreshwillre-loadtheRosterlistfromyourLegacy commandbase.Dothisifanotherenginehasbeenaddedbyanotheroperator,orafter 7 rollinganew-to-this-layoutlocomotiveoveranLCSSensorTrack.Youshouldalso RefreshifanyotherCab2remoteorotherApphasmodifiedsomethingbutyou’renot seeingthechangereflectedinyourRosterscreen. OperatingtheActiveEngine IfyouarefamiliarwithusingaLionelCabRemote(LegacyCAB2orCAB-1L)youwillfind iCabtobeverysimilar.Choosetheengineyouwanttorunfirst.Thenusethethrottle, whistle,bell,direction,etc.tooperatetheengine. UsingtheThrottle ThebiggestdifferencebetweeniCabandaLionelhardwareremoteisthethrottle. Insteadofthebigredknob,you’llbeusingthegreylargerectanglenearthetopofthe iCabdisplay. Tomoveanenginethatiscurrentlystopped,touchyourfingerovertheblackvertical bar(neartheleftedgeofthethrottle/speedgraph)anddragtotheright. Theverticalblacklineindicatesyourtargetspeed.Thegreybarshowsyourlocomotives currentspeed.DependingonyourMomentumsettings,theactualspeedwilllagbehind thetargetalittleoralot.This“speedgraph”isthesameinformationshownonthe LionelLegacyCAB2remote. UsingtheQuillingWhistle WhentheActiveEngineisaLegacymodel,youcanoperatethequillingwhistleby touchingthewhistlebuttonanddraggingyourfingerorthumbupanddown.Bydefault, thetopofthebuttonmakessofterwhistleblowsandthebottomincreasetheintensity ofthesound.ThismatchesthebehavioroftheLegacyCAB2remote.Ifyouprefer,this canbereversedsoloudblowswillbetriggeredfromtheupperendofthewhistle button.(seeAppPreferences,laterinthisdocument). 8 LocomotiveSoftKeyScreens ThreedifferentSoftKeyscreenscanbeselectedforusewithaLegacylocomotiveand youcanswitchbetweenthemfreelyatanytime.Tonavigatebetweenscreens,touch anddragyourdingeranywhereinaSoftKeyscreen. TheRunSoftKeyScreen 9 TheSpeedSoftKeyScreen TheDialogSoftKeyScreen 10 EngineHistory TheEngineHistoryfeatureisaconvenientwaytoquicklyswitchbackandforthbetween recentlyusedlocomotives.TouchandholdtheENGbuttonandalistwillappearinthe SoftKeyareaofthedisplay: Tochooseanenginefromthelist,simplytapitsID/Name,itwillbeselectedandyou’ll bereturnedtotheoperatingviewautomatically. ToclosetheEngineHistorywithoutselectingalocomotive,taptheENGNavigation buttonagain. 11 EngineDetail TheenginedetailviewletsyouseeandchangethevariouswaysiCabcommunicates withyourlocomotive.Forbestoperationforaparticularlocomotive,refertothe Owner’sManualthatcamewithyourengine.LegacyEngineswillautomaticallyappear withtheiroptimumsettingsifyouareusinganLCSSensorTrack,oranOrangeMemory ModulewithaLegacyCAB2remote. ToaccesstheEngineDetailview: 1. TaptheENGNavigationButtonifitisnotalreadyglowing. 2. Swipeup. 3. TheengineDetailviewfortheActiveEnginewillappear. Youcanchangeanyvalueshownandthenewinformationwillbewrittenintoyour Legacycommandbase.Tapthe“I”buttonsortouchthewhiteareanexttoNameto modifyeachdetailitem.Changeswillbereflectedinallactiveremotes(LegacyCAB2’s willupdateimmediately.OtherinstancesofiCabwilltoo,followingaRosterRefresh). 12 AboutTrains BuildingaTrainallowsyoutocontrolagroupofEnginesasone,inaprototypical manner.InaLEGACYControlSystemTrain,dialog,hornandbellareheardonlyfromthe head-endunit.Directionchangesareaccompaniedbyreversedlighting.Coupler activationwilloperatethefrontcouplerofthehead-endunitortherearofthelast memberofthetrain.Thecontrolandsoundoptionsofthehead-endunit(suchasthe SoftKeyScreens)automaticallybecometheoptionsforthecompletetrain. ItisstillpossibletocontrolanyoftheEngineswithinthetrainindividually.Whenyou issueaTraincommand,theindividualEngineyouwerecontrollingwillreturntothe group.Ifthereisadifferenceinspeed,theindividualEnginewillreturntothespeedof thetrainattheratesetintheTrainmomentum. YoumayalreadybefamiliarwithBuildingaTrainusingtheLegacyCAB2remoteorthe CAB-1L.UsingiCabtobuildTrainsissimilarinsomewaysbutdifferentinothers.The basicconceptisidentical—youwillbecreatingatrainthatconsistsofoneormore locomotivesandcanalsoincludeoperatingrollingstocksuchasaStationSoundsDiner oraCranecar. 13 BuildingaTrain FollowthesestepstocreateaTrain: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. EnableButtonPressSounds Thispreferencesettingturnsofftheconfirmingusersoundsfromyourdevicewhen runningiCab.Thisswitchdoesnoteffectthesoundsthatmaybegeneratedbythe locomotive,caroraccessoryyouareoperating. 19 WiFiTroubleshooting iCabmustbeconnectedtoanLCSWiFimoduletooperateyourlayout.Ifthis connectionisnotmade,you’llseeared“brokenlink”iconintheupperrightcornerof thescreen.RememberthatyouriPhoneoriPodTouchmustbeconnectedtothe wirelessnetworkcreatedbyyourLionelLCSWiFimodule. TocheckyourWiFiSettings: 1. GotoyouriPad’sSettingsAppandchooseviewyourcurrentGeneralsettings. 2. ClickonNetwork. 3. UnderWiFi,besureyouareconnectedtothenetworkthatincludestheLCSWiFi module.IfyourLCSWiFiAccessPoint/JoinNetworkswitchissetto“Access Point,”choosethenetworknamebeginningwith“LionelLCS-xxxx.” 4. IfyourLCSWiFiisin“JoinNetwork”position,connecttothenetworknameof yourhomeorclubwirelessnetwork. 5. Oncethecorrectwirelessnetworkhasbeenselected,returntotheiCabApp 6.
