Staying Cool Scoops Third Award in a Week
Christmas has come early at Staying Cool as it has won three awards in under seven days. The
Birmingham serviced apartment company won the hard-fought Team of the Year Award at the ASAP
Awards and was the runner up for the ASAP’s Investment in People Award. Staying Cool then received
news that it had achieved Silver in the Green Tourism programme.
Staying Cool is one of only 15 serviced apartments companies in the UK who take part in the scheme and
the only self-catering accommodation in Birmingham with a Green Tourism award. The company is now
putting a plan in place with the aim of achieving a Gold Green Tourism award in 2017.
Staying Cool MD, Tracey Stephenson, said: “All three awards reflect the core values that we started the
business with a decade ago: a customer centric approach and an emphasis on ethical and sustainable
trading. The hard work put in by our team into continuous improvement in these two areas has resulted in
us winning these three prestigious awards. We’re extremely proud of that.”
The ASAP’s Team of the Year Award goes to the company that demonstrates how the development or
implementation of its teams across the organisation has helped to meet objectives and importantly achieve
a successful business environment and thriving internal culture.
Stuart Park, Lead Assessor at Green Tourism, said: “Staying Cool made a great entry into the Green
Tourism programme. A huge amount of effort has been made to reduce the impact from this site and it
gives the guests a real green experience. Modern appliances, low energy lighting and good insulation are
all in place in the unique listed building. Green products are left for guests such as fair trade teas and
coffees, organic cereal, eco-friendly cleaning products as well as natural soaps. Waste minimization works
well with recycling options available for most of the main waste streams. Staying Cool also has played an
important part in the community - raising funds or donating prizes for local and national charities.”
Staying Cool offers 35 serviced apartments at the Grade-II listed Rotunda building in Birmingham, including
the city’s only 5* places to stay. The company aims to combine chic, design-led interiors with attention to
detail and outstanding customer service. Guests can choose from penthouses with large wraparound
balconies, two-bedroom Maxi apartments, Clubman one bedrooms and Mini studios.
End.
