Kentucky Caller Kentucky Road Christian Church, Mexico, MO January 2016 Have an Attitude, Not a Resolution Compiled by Ken Mantle This year, let’s forego formal resolutions and tune up our instincts for being better people by living better lives. Let’s start asking, “Who’s in trouble? To whom do we owe a phone call? What ill person would appreciate a visit from me? How long since I have visited a friend?’ In other words, to whom could I be of service?” Call it an attitude, not a resolution. While looking for ways to help others you’ll find many of your own short comings are automatically corrected. Here are a few beatitudes one might consider: Be a little less impatient with those we deem too slow. Be a little less of arrogance because of all we know. Be a little more humble, seeing our own worth is slight. We are such trivial candles compared to starts at night. Be a little more forgiving and swifter to be kind. Be a little more desirous the word of praise to find. The word of praise to utter and make a heart to rejoice. Be a little more careful to speak with gentle voice. Be a little more eager to understand each other. Be a little more striving to help a shipwrecked brother. Be a bit more courageous to that which must be done. Take these as our attitude ~ And GOD BLESS US EVERYONE.! Mission Minute Submitted by Judy and Don Hampton Taiwan—Edwards— Special prayer request: Pray for the Home of God’s Love Orphanage in LoTung. The government is requiring them to fill two new positions within the next three months. Director of Adoptions and Orphanage Social Worker. There are specific requirements for these roles that are making it hard to find people to fill them. Without these positions filled, the orphanage is facing losing their license to adopt out babies in Taiwan and abroad. Caitlyn participated in the Living Christmas Tree at Ozark Christian College in December before going home to Taiwan for Christmas. Mexico—Sanchez—Josh’s grandfather, Gil Contreras, has come to live with Josh and Susan this winter to avoid the harsh winter in Mexico City and hopefully avoid his annual fight with colds, pneumonia and bronchitis, which can be dangerous for a man 90 years young. We feel especially blessed to have him here, especially for the boys to develop a relationship with their great-grandfather. Grandpa has many stories to tell and his example of faithfulness is inspiring. No matter what story he shares, he always brings it back to Jesus, and how our real home is with Him. A personal bank account in Moberly was “hacked”, running up $1000. in purchases. Show Me— “Thank you for being a blessing to the children and families of Show-Me in 2015.” A Christmas card designed by one of the children is on the Mission bulletin board. CMCE—The January 18 meeting will be here at Kentucky Road. Dan Hogan, minister at Clarence, will be the speaker. The theme for 2016 is “Bring Your Best”. At the December meeting Don Hampton and Jim Bettison were elected to fill two absences on the board due to resignations. Christian Campus House – “Thank you on behalf of Tae-Kwon. As a visiting professor to the University of Missouri, he came to study English seeking a post-doctorate degree. As so many of our international students experience, the need for improvement in English leads them to a relationship with our international staff and the results of that relationship are always very predictable: the Bible is studied and an invitation is given. Last night Tae-Kwon made the decision to follow Jesus and was immersed into Christ through the leadership of Don Stoll and David Sowers. Like so many of our students, Tae-Kwon came to Columbia for an education and left with a degree in Jesus. “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD” – Proverbs 19:17
