How could I progress
from this
qualification?
Support
The primary outcome of this qualification is to help you to
progress to the next level(s) of English, e.g.:
o Entry 3 Cambridge Award/Extended Award/Certificate in
English
o GCSE English
o L1 and L2 Functional Skills in English
Another route of progression may be to use this Award along with
others at Entry 2, as part of a programme of study towards a larger
qualification, e.g. the Entry 2 Cambridge Certificate in English
Through studying this bite-sized unit, which focuses on building
skills in the construction of straightforward compound sentences,
you will form a foundation of skills to be able to tackle other
English qualifications which require you to apply these skills. For
example GCSE or Functional Skills assessment will require you to
construct compound sentences. This qualification will allow you to
understand this topic in isolation before you move on to tackle
more complex problems
Other outcomes of this qualification include helping you to:
o overcome barriers to entering work by building
fundamental literacy skills needed for example when
completing job applications, CVs, interpreting training
documentation when you first start work
o to operate independently and effectively in your home
and in your community, for example literacy skills will help
you with reading complex documentation or contracts
that you need to deal with
o to re-engage with learning if for any reason you were not
able to engage with the study of English previously.
This qualification is supported by:
Joseph Chamberlain Sixth Form College
LESOCO
Leicester Adult Skills and Learning Service.
