SOCIETY OF FIRE PROTECTION ENGINEERS - ROCKY MOUNTAIN CHAPTER
APPLICATION FOR ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
The Rocky Mountain Chapter (RMC) of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) wishes to award
an academic scholarship to the most qualified applicant in the amount of $1500 for the 2017/2018
academic year. The primary goal of this scholarship is to promote and encourage students in the
Greater Rocky Mountain Region to consider a career the field of Fire Protection Engineering. For the
purposes of this application, the Greater Rocky Mountain Region includes the following U.S. states:
Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, and Idaho.
Applicants must meet the following criteria at the time of scholarship application:
 Demonstrate a sincere interest in pursuing a career in fire protection
 Permanently reside in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, or Idaho; or are enrolled as a full
time student in a college / university located in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, or Idaho; or
have graduated from a high school located in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, or Idaho
within the last 10 years.
 Enrolled as a full time student with a declared degree path in science, technology, or
engineering or enrolled as a part time student in a program with a Fire Protection Engineering
degree tract.
Applicants should submit the following by no later than April 1 2017, with scholarships to be awarded in
May 2017:
1) Completed SFPE – RMC scholarship application package
2) Most recent semester Transcript (high school transcript acceptable if no undergraduate
coursework has been completed)
3) Documentation showing enrollment or acceptance if not enrolled
4) Any other information the applicant feels would assist in the selection process
