Staff Initiative: Walk the Talk
08 April 2017
With the unfavourable economic outlook, we expect a larger number of disadvantaged families in our
midst. In response, Lakeside staff have taken the initiative to raise funds for the needy we serve – by
staying in shape and doing good!
Participating in a month-long fundraising walkathon “Walk to be Healthy, Give to the Needy”, staff will
walk 10km per $20 donation received.
Of course, good health enables staff to serve beneficiaries to the best of their abilities!
Kicking off with a Fun Walk on 8 April 2017, 40 staff, with their friends and family, walked a scenic 4km
at Chinese Garden. Highlights included pagodas, bonsai, statues of Chinese heroes, and even a monitor
lizard.
Did you know you can burn up to 50 calories per kilometre walked? That is certainly motivation to put
on your shoes and get walking!
