Wonnarua Nation Aboriginal Corporation Health
and Education Funds have funds available for
reimbursement of medically supported eligible out
of pocket expenses incurred by members.

The WNAC board of Directors & CEO have made
some great progress in the months since our AGM in
September 2014!
The Directors of WNAC are: Tracey Skene [acting
Chairperson,] Rae Reed (Treasurer), Sharon EdgarJones (Secretary), Sandra Miller, Arthur Fletcher
and Maree Waugh.
Laurie Perry, as CEO, has the onerous task of
keeping us all ‘real’. . .
Opportunity for WNAC Youth
The board are calling for expressions of interest
from motivated young members aged 18 – 25 years.
Only those young members that have attended the
last 3 AGMs are asked to apply. The board is offering
up to 8 young people the opportunity to participate in
a 2 day Corporate Governance Training workshops
with ORIC. Expressions of Interest, including a short
bio, should be emailed to Laurie Perry prior to the
board making a decision.
UPDATE COAL&ALLIED ADCF:
WNAC applied again to the Coal &Allied community
development this time just for the CEO position The
fund will contribute part payment to the CEO position,
it’s important to keep the CEO position going to keep
the planned HUBS going and give positive direction to
the board, directors meetings are mainly held at our
property Pioneer Rd.
UPDATE WMR PTY LTD
Wonnarua Mine Rehabilitation Pty Ltd have employed
11 Aboriginal People who are currently working at our
property Valley Arm doing fencing and weed control
underneath our Bio Banking agreement with OEH,
ARTC and NSW Government.
WMR Pty Ltd have also tendered for the lawn mowing
maintenance contract at Ashton Coal and have been
funded again by the Coal & Allied ADCF Aboriginal
Development Community Fund for the project
Management position.
WMR Pty Ltd have also been removing noxious weeds
along our property St Clair Mission which backs onto
Glennies Creek see photo below
APPROVED FOR WONNARUA NURSERY UPDATE
The WNAC board are pleased to announce the DA
approval of the Nursery at Camberwell Village by
Singleton Council. We have now started developing the
Nursery as part of our mining agreement with Ashton
Coal.
1 hot house and 1 shade cloth area have been installed
by WMR Pty Ltd, bush tucker plants and other variety
of tress have been planted to supply the mining
industry and meetings with GLENCORE have been held
with positive outcomes.
UPDATE HUNTLEE NEW TOWN DEVELOPMENT
The WNAC, ILC Indigenous Land Corporation met
with LWP Property Group who are building the new
town at Branxton called Huntlee. We are looking at
investing in this new town in a commercial capacity we
have looked at the proposal from LWP which is a
Building in the town centre aptly named MADOO
HOUSE or MUSEUM to see if it is viable and will
meet LWP and ILC again soon.

UPDATE OF DA DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION
FOR ST CLAIR MISSION/WONNARUA CULTURE
PARK
UPDATE SUBMISSION TO OEH FOR BIAME
CAVE AT MILBRODALE
The Wonnarua Nation Aboriginal Corporation board
requested I put a submission in with the property
owner Noelene Smith to OEH [Office of Environment
and Heritage] to AP [Aboriginal Protect] the cave
which we have done and the GOOD NEWS it has now
been registered through OEH and approved by the
NSW Heritage Council a plan of management will be
developed now to protect the site forever....we will
keep members updated of this progress
The WNAC DA has been submitted to Singleton
Council to develop Wonnarua Culture Park the building
is now being built off site The funding came through a
submission to RMS as part of the offset proposal for
the new Hunter Expressway. We also have funds to
develop the new road and carpark area which includes
signage, establish 3 picnic areas and a walkway for
visitors to see, 2 important signs will be installed
where the Mission Church School and corroboree
ground AP’s are registered showing where these
significant sites were.
BLAST FROM THE PAST JEAN MILLER
UPDATE MOU SIGNED BETWEEN WNAC AND
MLF MADOO LAND FUND.
WNAC and MLF signed a MOU to work together on
projects dealing with land acquisition the Madoo Land
Fund committee is Victor Perry, Maxine Conaty and
Arthur Fletcher, We have been talking with BGS for
over 8 months now MLF are looking to buy 150 acres
to develop Bio Farming this is a exciting new project
we will update the members at our AGM of this
progress
Jean Miller was a pioneer for our people and daughter of
Jack Miller and Harriet Waters, Sarah Madoo’s
daughter, she was born in Singleton 1910 and passed
away 1998 she was 88 years old.

UPDATE VALLEY ARM 2015
GLENCORE BOP PROJECT FUNDING
As you will see our bio banking property Valley Arm is
looking like a park now..Wonnarua Mine Rehabilitation
Pty Ltd have done a great job cleaning the property
through our agreement with OEH...well done team.
The Wonnarua Nation Aboriginal Corporation signed a
Umbrella Agreement with Glencore to deliver culture
and Heritage outcomes for it’s members we engaged a
Aboriginal business called Waratah Partners to
develop a number of programs which include
development of diorama’s being constructed for our
proposed Madoo Museum, Development of a timeline,
booklet and updated geneology project for Madoo
Museum, a 3D traditional boundary project to go in
the Madoo museum, a Aborignial tourism feasibility
study/ business plan for the hunter region, a
feasibility study for a proposed fish farm, funding to
develope St Clair Aboriginal Mission eg construct a
road and carpark, signage,3 picnic tables and a
heritage walkway, we also have a team of culture and
heritage workers sub contacted by WNAC at both
Glencore’s Bulga Coal and United Colliery mines
salvaging artefacts for future generations to see.
UPDATE REDOURNBERRY HILL OEH [AP] ABORIGINAL
PROTECTION
CORPORATE GOVERNANCE TRAINING WITH
ORIC
The Wonnarua Nation Aboriginal Corporation
requested I put in a Aboriginal Protection application
to OEH Office and Environment Heritage to gazette
certain sections of this land in Singleton where
Aboriginal people were forced to live in the early 60s
and 70s included in this were Jean Miller,Harriet
Waters and Sarah Madoo, the site is still waiting on
approval and we are very confident this will happen
with support from Wanaruha LALC, Local Land
Services, Crown Lands Department and the local
Aboriginal Community

UPDATE WONNARUA NATION ABORIGINAL
CORPORATION APPLIED FUNDING TO PRIME
MINISTER AND CABINET FUNDING
UPDATE OF WONNARUA NATION/GRINGAI BOOK
Wonnarua Nation Aboriginal Corporation did apply to
the Prime Ministers and Cabinet for funding of our
Empowerment Strategy to develop
training,employment, tourism and business
development on land Wonnarua Nation Aboriginal
Corporation own. Our application was unsuccessful, so
now we are working with RDA- Hunter to seek funding
for the development of Madoo Museum with possible
assitance through ILC to look at matching dollar for
dollar funding of this exciting new project.
WELCOME TO COUNTRY AT COAL & ALLIEDS NAIDOC
DAY
Wonnarua Nation Aboriginal Corporation applied to
RAHS to fund a book about our history and engaged
local historian Michael Williams for assistance to get
a independant view of our descendants history. We
also received help from Kerrie Hogan to look at epublication for this story to be used in our proposed
museum, the book isn’t finished yet and will let our
membership know when it’s complete.

I am pleased to anounce Wonnarua Nation Aboriginal
Corporation applied to OEH to do a video of our
people and stories called Wonnarua Pathways and
Connection Project, which has now been completed.
