This request for expression of interest follows the General Procurement Notice for this Project that appeared in United Nations Development Business, issue No. OP00039403 of October 6th 2016 2. The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Southern Agriculture Growth Corridor of Tanzania (SAGCOT) and intends to apply part of the proceeds to eligible payments under the contract of an Agribusiness Development Specialist. 3. The objective of the Catalytic Trust Fund is to provide innovative finances to catalyze private investments associated with developing the agribusiness sector and the strengthening of supply chains encompassing small holder farmers and to assist with initial costs of developing commercially viable agricultural business on the SAGCOT. 4. SAGCOT CTF now invites eligible Individual Consultants to express their interest in providing the services. The Candidate should possess the following qualifications: a) A minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience related to rural business development, Agriculture Sector, micro finance and marketing, competitiveness and value chain analysis in developing countries and developed countries. b) At least three (3) similar assignments related to the preparation, formulation and development of Agriculture involved businesses within the last five (5) years. c) At least three (3) years’ experience in the identification, minimum three (3) years previous experience working with rural micro-to-small scale businesses providing either; business development services, training and/or technical assistance. d) Advanced university degree in Agriculture, Business Administration (MBA), Economics or a related discipline. e) The consultant must have experience in conducting business analysis and strategic development as well as in managing projects implementation. f) Demonstrated ability to work effectively with the public and private sectors including NGOs and Capacity Building Institutions. g) Proven Tanzania-specific experience and verifiable results in reaching out to a wide target population, including local leaders, local government authorities, local business and rural communities. h) Must be computer literate and should have an excellent command of English; i) High level of communication and Interpersonal skills and ability to work with people at all levels; j) Ability to supervise, train and coach staff in relevant skills; 5. The Candidate should possess the following qualifications: i) Master’s Degree in Agriculture with specialization in economics, agricultural economics, agricultural finance, agricultural marketing/business or MBA with specialization in finance/marketing (in agriculture would be preferred) or related fields with seven (7) years’ of experience ii) Working experience should be in promoting agricultural services, networking and coordination with local service providers (line agencies, District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI), private service providers, financial institutions etc.) iii) Knowledge and experience in financial institutions will be an additional advantage iv) Good spoken and written skill in both English and Swahili and possess good skills in report writing v) Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with range of institutions vi) Good computer skills vii) Knowledge of Farming-As-A-Business Toolkits will be an added advantage 5.
