know what is area and perimeter practice calculating the perimeter of a figure practice calculating the area of a figure know how to estimate, measure and record the length using different standard units (i.e. kilometer –km, metres-m, centimetres-cm) Practice estimating, measuring and recording the perimeter of different objects (i.e. notebook, calculator, paper, envelope, textbook, folder, shoebox etc. ) know the difference between different standard units (km, m, cm) (i.e. centimetres are smaller than metres) and justify the most appropriate standard unit to measure length. practice estimating, measuring and recording the area using grid paper Review math words from this unit: length, centimeters, kilometre, metre, square units, area, perimeter, units, height, width, length etc. practice communicating your thinking by solving word problems using the problem solving model know examples of real life situations where you would have to calculate the area and perimeter Practice writing story problems about finding the area and perimeter Students need to take home their Math Makes Sense Homework Practice books and math folders to review at home.
