When you call the number, a doctor
will answer the phone. On the basis of
your conversation, the doctor will decide whether you need to come in for a
consultation. In special situations, the
consultation may take place in your home.
Otherwise, you will have to travel to one of
the 20 consulting offices in the region. You
will have to arrange your own transport to
the consulting office where you have been
given an appointment.

In the Region of Southern Denmark, the
following service targets have been introduced for the emergency service doctor
network:
• Waiting time on the phone will normally
be less than 5 minutes.
• The distance to the nearest consulting
office will normally be less than 30 km
– although it might be a little longer in
certain areas and in night-time hours.
• Patient visits or consultations will normally be performed within 3 hours.
• For additional information about the

at the offices of one of the doctors on the

You can call the emergency service doctor if you suffer from an acute illness and cannot wait for treatment until you can contact your own GP again.
Have your personal identification number (CPR number) ready when you call, as this
will speed up the process.
If the doctor considers it necessary, you may be examined
either at an emergency service doctor’s office or in your
own home.
