Athletic Programs at Chadwick School Teaching Values Through Athletics Providing a competitive sports program is an integral part of Chadwick’s educational philosophy. We believe in striving for excellence, whether in the classroom or on the playing field. Chadwick students have some of the finest coaches and athletic facilities in the area. From kindergarten, they participate in a physical education program that teaches them the skills, rules and sense of fair play necessary to excel both as individuals and as team players. They also develop the values of sportsmanship and loyalty. Skilled coaching helps each student form a keen sense of self, develop natural talents, and improve through persistence, commitment and hard work. Our competitive athletics program includes 15 Middle School teams, 4 Frosh-Soph teams, 17 Junior Varsity teams and 25 Varsity teams. Athletics AT CHADWICK SCHOOL Chadwick School offers 25 sports for boys and girls and encourages participation from the Village through the Upper School for all students. On average, 85 percent of all Middle and Upper School students get involved with at least one sport; 60 percent compete in two sports or more. While not all athletes compete on varsity teams, all are welcome to participate at the level appropriate to their skill development. Surrounded by friends and encouraging mentors, our teams have proven to be extremely successful; 55 percent of Chadwick varsity teams qualified for league playoffs in 2012-2013. That year, Chadwick won one CIF Southern Section runner-up title and two league titles. The Prep League also recognized 45 Chadwick athletes. In addition, two Chadwick seniors were recognized by the National Football Foundation (“Building Leaders Through Football”) for distinguishing themselves in the community, in the classroom, and on the football field. These two students were among only 75 seniors selected from 34 Los Angeles-area schools. In 2013, a Chadwick senior was selected as the CIF Southern Section female athlete of the year.
