Message from the Principal
Welcome back from winter break. I always enjoy the time with my family. I especially loved this year as
my son came home from college for the entire two weeks. While I love the time off I am always excited to see
the smiling faces of our children at school. They returned to school with so many stories to share. As I walked
through classrooms I was able to read journals about what they did over the break.
January is starting with a bang. Right around the corner is our amazing science fair. If you have not attended in the past I encourage you to come on January 21st from 5:30-6:30 pm. Last year I learned about many
new topics. My favorite part of the science fair is kids get to pick a topic of interest to investigate. If your child
did not participate in the science fair this year, you are welcome to come and see what other students have
done. This is a great way to learn about the project, so when they get to fourth grade they will have a better idea
of what is expected of them. I also find the event to be a great conversation starter for science. We open up future careers for our children when we expose them to science.
We will also kick off our spellbound fundraiser this month. PTCO will send more information regarding
the fundraiser in the next week. Thank you for always supporting our fundraisers. The PTCO is able to give all the
money back to the school to support programs, equipment, and teacher assistant funding.
Each year our district recognizes exceptional volunteers at a dinner in April. The award recognizes volunteers of the Cherry Creek School District for their dedication to our students, faculty, and community. Please
consider all volunteers supporting our school. Each school will select one honoree to be recognized at the exceptional volunteer dinner. If you wish to nominate a volunteer for this award send an email or letter to me by
January 22nd with the name of the volunteer, name of their child(ren) attending Belleview and a brief description
telling us why you nominated this exceptional volunteer. Please limit to 100 words. If this nominee is selected as
the honoree your description may be read the night of the event. While not all volunteers will receive this award,
I love hearing about each of our volunteers. I give a huge round of applause to all parents, family members, and
community members who give time to our school. Even the smallest amount makes a difference. Belleview is a
great school because of the partnership we share with our community. I look forward to seeing you in the classrooms, hallways, or outside as you drop off your children.
The weather changes on a daily basis. Please make sure your child is dressed in layers and prepared for
inclement weather. When it is below 20 degrees or raining/snowing heavily we have inside days. If it is 20 degrees we go outside for recess. Children must have winter boots to play on the pebble area in the snow, so
please send boots when there is snow on the ground.

Continue message from Principal
We are about halfway through our third trimester. Teachers will contact you next month for our spring
conferences. Report cards go home on February 26th. Teachers will hold parent teacher conferences the week of
March 1st.
Our state-testing window for this school year is the month of April. We will determine the schedule by
the end of the month. The teachers will communicate the schedule to parents. This year we will take PARCC for
Literacy and Math in grades 3-5. Fourth grade will also take the social studies CMAS and fifth grade will take the
science CMAS. When you are scheduling appointments this spring please try not to schedule them on testing
days. Our 3-5 grade students will take the interim Aspire assessment throughout the next couple of weeks. Second grade will take Maps this month too. We will not take the spring Aspire assessment due to the state tests.
Second grade will take the end of the year MAP testing. Please contact your teacher to get the specific dates for
each assessment.
Sincerely,
Tiffany Kophs
Principal

Students are considered late at 9:05 am and required to check in at the front office for a late pass.
Messages to students for the end of the day delivery need to be called in by 3:15 pm. This way we can ensure
your message will be delivered.
The school day is over at 3:30 pm and children should be picked up promptly, as there is no supervision after

emergencies come up.
In an effort to ensure students get to their destination, students going home with other students on the bus must
have a note from parents and approved by the front office.
Winter is here and inclement weather may be coming our way. Please remember to check the district website,

SCHOOL OF CHOICE
The Cherry Creek School District allows its resident students to apply for enrollment in
the Cherry Creek school/program of their choice. In other words, you may request that
your child attend a Cherry Creek school outside your assigned attendance area. The
School of Choice applications are an electronic application that you can access online
from January 1st - February 1st from any computer, at any time. Please note that there
will be NO PAPER FORMS available for the School of Choice application process.
There is a limit of one (1) application per student and all information is verified for accuracy. Applications are considered on a space available, lottery basis with priority given to
families with siblings at the school and to the children of employees of the district. (NOTE: The applications are NOT considered on a first come/first serve basis - so
you may submit the application at any time during the month of January.) Parents will
be notified of the decision by March 15th and any appeals must be submitted in writing
to District Admissions by April 15th.
Students currently attending a school under School of Choice or an IntraDistrict Transfer
approved to the highest grade level do not need to submit an application to return to that
school next year. Non-Resident applications will be available online starting April 1st.

Thinking Outside the College Box
Join PIN to hear a panel of CCSD graduates speak about alternatives to the traditional 4-year
college track. Our student panel will be moderated by Dr. Harry Bull, superintendent of CCSD.
What is a non-traditional track? Possibilities include taking a gap year and pursuing careers in the
military, the arts, graphic design, hospitality, tourism, culinary arts, construction, the automotive industry, the
medical field, criminal justice and law enforcement.
At this presentation, you’ll learn about CCSD programming aimed at supporting pathways beyond the fouryear college track. CCSD will also provide an overview of the past, present and future of alternative careers,
including how kids can prepare themselves for success. Representatives from the military, community
colleges and other organizations will be available to answer your questions.
Parents, school administrators and community members are welcome and encouraged to attend PIN’s
presentations. No need to RSVP—just come! Presentations are FREE and are held the first Tuesday of each
