Can I Hold An Agriculture Exterminator Licence to Use Pesticides on My Farm? Page 1 of 2 Can I use Class 2 or 3 pesticides on my farm if I hold an Agriculture Exterminator Licence? Yes. You are allowed to use Class 2, 3, or 4 pesticides on your own farm for most applications if you hold an Agriculture Exterminator Licence. You must apply pesticides according to the uses allowed by your Agriculture licence. Can I use Class 2 or 3 pesticides in a greenhouse on my farm if I hold an Agriculture Exterminator Licence? No. You must hold either a Greenhouse/Interior Plant Exterminator Licence or a Grower Pesticide Safety Course certificate to use Class 2 or 3 pesticides in a greenhouse on your farm. As a Licensed Agriculture Exterminator, can I train farm workers to help me apply Class 2 or 3 pesticides on my farm? Farm workers who use pesticides under the supervision of a Licensed Agriculture Exterminator or Certified Farmer must be trained and supervised. Farm workers assisting Licensed Agriculture Exterminators must be trained as Technicians. Technicians must successfully complete an MOE approved pesticide safety training course and receive practical training from a licensed exterminator to use pesticides under the in-direct supervision of a Licensed Agriculture Exterminator and must comply with the conditions: • cannot use any Class 2 pesticides, or a Class 3 pesticide that is an avicide, rodenticide, fumigant or suspension in air, except in the presence of a licensed exterminator authorized to use the pesticide. • have readily available at the extermination site a work order, invoice, job sheet or other form of written instructions respecting the extermination in accordance with section 46 and 47 of Regulation 63/09 under the Pesticides Act. Farm workers assisting a Certified Farmer must be trained as Farmer Assistants. Farmer Assistants must either participate in a Grower Pesticide Safety Course or participate in an On-Farm training session presented by an On-Farm Instructor to be able to use Class 2 or 3 pesticides. Farmer Assistants are restricted from doing some tasks. Page 2 of 2 I have an Agriculture Exterminator Licence. May I train my farm workers "On-Farm" as Farmer Assistants and supervise their use of pesticides? No. Licensed Agriculture Exterminators can only supervise Technicians. Certified Farmers supervise Farmer Assistants. Can my Agriculture Exterminator Licence be considered equivalent to farmer certification? Yes. Your certification as an Agriculture Exterminator may be considered equivalent to farmer certification if you have successfully passed the Agriculture Exterminator certification examination within the past five years. Please provide a copy of your licence, and a copy of the letter that states the date you successfully completed the certification course/exam requirements and your grade to the Ontario Pesticide Education Program. They will forward your request to the Ministry of the Environment for approval of equivalency.
