BUNDABERG REGIONAL COUNCIL
ADOPTION OF TEMPORARY LOCAL PLANNING INSTRUMENT
1/2017 – PROTECTION OF THE MON REPOS TURTLE
CONSERVATION AREA
Notice is given under the Sustainable Planning Act 2009 that on
14 March 2017, Bundaberg Regional Council adopted Temporary
Local Planning Instrument (TLPI) 1/2017 – Protection of the Mon
Repos Turtle Conservation Area.
The TLPI applies to land at Shelley Street, Burnett Heads, as
identified in mapping included in the TLPI. The area affected is
broadly described as that land between Shelley Street and Sea
Esplanade, from Dryden Street extending south to and
including 174 Shelley Street.
The purpose and general effect of the TLPI is to suspend certain
provisions contained in the Bundaberg Regional Council
Planning Scheme 2015, to –
•
provide a greater level of protection to the Mon Repos
turtle rookery from the adverse impacts of development;
•
limit development on land to which the TLPI applies to a
Dwelling house on each lot; and
•
manage lighting associated with Dwelling houses to limit
direct and overflow lighting impacts.
The TLPI will take effect on 17 March 2017 and cease to have
effect on 16 March 2018 unless repealed prior to this date.
The TLPI is available for inspection and purchase at Bundaberg
Regional Council’s Administration Building, 190 Bourbong
Street, Bundaberg and can be viewed on Council’s website at
