Advisory Advisory # [2015-A-005] Subject: Environmental Contingency Plan Update From: Airport Planning and Technical Services Contact: Derek Gray, [email protected], 416 776 3049 Date: 2015-03-20 The Greater Toronto Airports Authority’s (GTAA) Environmental Contingency Plan (EECP) has been updated and can be accessed on the GTAA external website for the airport community’s reference. To access the EECP, type in the URL: http://apps.torontopearson.com/torontopearsoncommunity/Datafile.asp?fileid=2004 You will be prompted for a password: EECP2015! Airport tenants are required to have their own emergency procedures which can be based on the GTAA’s EECP. Please ensure you are familiar with the most recent version of the GTAA’s EECP. Please note that all tenants are also responsible for awareness and compliance to changes in environmental legislation which include but are not limited to the following: All tenants which meet the 2009 Federal National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) reporting requirements, are required to report under the Canadian Environmental Protection Act, 1999 (CEPA 1999). The report is to be submitted to Environment Canada before June 1, 2015. A reminder of the requirements under the Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS) and its Salt and Certain Other Compounds Regulations (the regulations). As of May 2013 the regulations prohibit the use of Aqueous Film Forming Foam containing non-compliant concentrations of PFOS. All tenants owning tanks that meet the requirements under the regulation must ensure that they are in compliance. The regulation can be accessed on the CEPA Environmental Registry website at: http://www.gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p2/2008/2008-06-25/html/sor-dors197-eng.html In August 2003 Environment Canada implemented regulations governing halocarbons in refrigeration and air conditioning systems under federal jurisdiction as described in the regulations. All tenants with cooling systems that meet the requirements under the regulation must ensure they are in compliance.
