The Report

Institute Update:
a.
The Institute Board had an intense two day introspective meeting in February to realign
themselves into a Visionary Board, rather than an Operational Board. CSI needs to maintain and
sharpen their vision and the Board needs to lead this effort by being a Deliberative Board and
not a Working Board.
With this in mind, the Board worked on Themes to concentrate on. At the top of the list was
education and product relevancy. So for FY15, the Board will concentrate in strengthening our
education programs and keeping our products relevant.
You should see an increased emphasis on promoting our education programs and keeping not
only our educations programs relevant, but our products like MasterFormat and UniFormat
relevant also.
b.
Most Chapters in the Region have completed the process of updating their By-Laws. The Region
also has completed the process. The following Chapters still have not fully completed the
process: Grand Strand has not returned their final by-laws to the Institute; Miami and Puerto
Rico has not returned the revisions to their by-laws to the Institute. This information is what the
records of the Institute show. If this information is incorrect, please let me know.
c.
The Building Technology Education Task Team has completed their initial Charges. The Board
approved their recommendation to proceed to the next phase which is creating a Building
Technology Education Program Development Task Team. The call for volunteers has gone out
for staffing this Task Team.
d.
FY-15 Budget: I am pleased that the Institute Director’s budget for the Region Meeting was
retained. Since the Institute does not fund the Region Director to attend their own region
meeting, and the Region requires the attendance of the Institute Director, it will help the next
Institute Director from the Southeast Region attend the meeting. Thank you.
