Calm Seas Supply List

Calm Seas
Supply List
Michelle Renee Hiatt - Instructor
Welcome to the Calm Seas class. Michelle’s design puts a
modern spin on the typical Storm at Seas quilt layout.
Michelle used 12 graduating colors (6 colors in 2 different
tones) which gives it that calm smooth feeling. If selecting
the Throw or Double, this quilt works great with Solid,
Tone on Tone or Batiks fabric. If selecting the King;
consider some large prints, it is perfect for showing off
those large florals! Pattern includes 3 size options (Throw,
Double, King) and you will be amazed how easily this quilt
comes together with the right tools!
Calm Seas requires Deb Tucker’s Large Square Squared™,
Diamond Rects™ and V Block™.
Calm Seas
Quilt Size: (Multiple) Throw: 63” x 72”,
Double/Full 84” x 96”, King 104” x 119”

Notes:
When selecting fabric:
•
All sizes are made up of Background fabric and 6
different colorways, 2 shaded within each color way.
Total of 12 Fabrics plus background.
•
While Michelle calls out the colors, she elected for her
cover quilt, in the fabric yardage, feel free to elected
your own 6 colors for this quilt. Michelle referenced
them so you could identify them on the image.
•
Michelle selected one of her darks for her Outer
Border. However, the yardage is listed separately, so
that you can decide what you want to select for your
Border.
Pre-Class Cutting Note:
Pre-cutting is required and will allow us maximum sewing and
learning time in class.
• For the workshop, you may elect to just cut enough fabric for
one color way of each fabric. Make sure to cut the Medium
and Dark of that color way and enough background.
• You will need to cut at least one color way for Large Square³,
Small Square³, Diamond Rects, and V Block.
• I personally like to cut my entire quilt at once, to stay
organized, but you may only want to cut for the workshop.
• If you only cut for the workshop, remember to bring the rest
of your fabric in case of errors.
• Middle and Outer Border cutting instructions can be found
on the pattern. They are not needed for class.
Tip from Michelle – Cut small squares from each of your color way 1-6, both Medium and Dark fabric, them place below
to keep you organized.

Tip from Michelle: If you own a Tucker Trimmer 2, it will be very useful for cutting the Square³ strips. It isn’t required,
but very helpful.
