Event
Saturday July 30th from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Wayne State University – 5101 S. Lodge @ Warren.
The purpose of this event is to annually devote a day-long competition and activity to promote camaraderie
amongst the first responders and the community we serve. Embracing family involvement; meanwhile,
promoting health and safety, this inaugural event will include strategic exercises, athletic competitions,
informative displays, and many fun activities for all ages. As a display of community unity and professional
courtesy, all activities and competitions are free.
Please join the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) on Saturday July 30 th as we host our first annual
“WCSO Field Day and Community Event”. The event is hyped to showcase the athletic and endurance abilities
of our officers, as well providing a wide range of educational and safety demonstrations to the community. Our
goal is to provide our intergenerational audience with an insight into the WCSO’s agility skills in a fun
environment for all to enjoy. Expect the day to be filled with helpful information, prizes, food, sportsmanship
and entertainment.
Event Activities Include:








Opening Ceremony: National Anthem, Remembering William Dickerson.
Giveaways: Near vendor and children activities.
Simulations and Displays: DMC driving simulator, fire engine, Marine, SRT,
and vendor displays.
Food, Music, and Fitness: Various food trucks, DJ, and fitness demonstrations.
Raffles: Announced by DJ every 10 minutes to the hour, must be present to win
raffle prizes.
Children Activities: Bounce houses, face painting, clown performances; train
ride, Detroit Fire Department Clown Team, Archery, Smoke House and more.
Competitions: Co-ed Softball, 3 on 3 Basketball, Long Jump, Mile Run,
Mounted Challenge, 100 Sprint, Medley Relay, 400 Relay, Motor Challenge,
Obstacle Course, and Tug of War.

Remembering Sergeant William Dickerson:
Sergeant Dickerson Badge #394, a 23-year
veteran Wayne County Deputy Sheriff, was killed
on September 11, 1991 after rushing to the aid
of a fellow officer during an attempted jailbreak.
He was the first Wayne County Deputy Sheriff
fatally shot in the line of duty since the
department was established in 1797.
