Town of Marilla Newsletter April 2016 1740 Two Rod Road, Marilla, NY 14102 (716) 652-5350 www.townofmarilla.com Earl Gingerich Jr. Supervisor Events April: 23rd—Kiwanis Road side clean-up 25th - Townwide Rubbish pickup May: 29th — Memorial Day Parade 1:00 pm June: 1st—Concert at Pavilion 5:30 pm Iroquois 7th & 8th Grade Chorus & Orchestra 17 & 18—Benevolent Carnival —Fireworks Friday night, Parade Saturday 6pm 25th - Marilla Fire Company Tractor Pull 25th & 26th—Civil war at Town Park The Town of Marilla has successfully refinanced Water District 2 & 4, saving $347,000 (15%) in budgetary savings. Initially the saving was projected at $238,000 (10%). This was accomplished in part by timing, a little luck and demonstrating sound management. The Town was expected to get a good financial rating by Standard and Poors; according to our financial advisors. The expectation was an "A" rating. The Town received a "AA" rating. According to Jeff Smith of Municipal Solutions (Financial Advisors), the reasons for the higher rating was the management of the Town and "it came across as loud and clear to the Raters that (Gingerich) really knew what was happening in all of his accounts". As of March 24th the Town no longer has any short term debt., paid one year early. Water District 3 is scheduled to be paid off in 5 more years. Water District 5 I am still looking at better financing options. My job is to continue to manage the Town in an ethically and financially responsible manner. Expecting nothing less from all Town Officials. This translates into real savings and credibility of the Town. I continue to work with County Officials and fellow Town Supervisors on various projects to help streamline services.Thank you for your continued support.
