Big fall: Montmorency Falls Park, Quebec, Canada
Waterfalls are one of nature’s greatest wonders.
Yes, we all love a good sunset, but there’s something extra special – and intensely mesmerising – about watching
tumbling waters and feeling the drifting spray, often sparking with a rainbow of colours.
Luxury travel firm Destinology (destinology.co.uk) asked its product managers, each of whom cover different global
destinations, to name their world waterfall wonders based on customer feedback from visits.
And, no, Niagara did not make the cut...
1.
MONTMORENCY Quebec, Canada
At 275ft, they are 100ft higher than Niagara Falls and are just outside Quebec City, a historic Unesco world-heritage
site. There’s a cable car up to the falls and a suspension bridge over the crest which provides a spectacular view (the
stairs back down to the base should not be taken lightly). For the more adventurous of you, there’s a zip line. In the
summer, there’s an international fireworks competition with the falls as a backdrop and in the winter, visitors head for
the famed Sugar Loaf, a huge cone of ice which forms at the base.quebecregion.com Get there: Destinology has a 15
day Splendid Nature of Quebec fly-drive from £1,195pp inc flights from the UK.
2. ANNANDALE St George’s, Grenada
Lush: Annandale Falls, Grenada

– there are changing facilities. puregrenada.com Get there: Destinology has 7nts from £1,625pp inc flights.

GULLFOSS HAUKADALUR Iceland
Sunrise: Gullfoss waterfall in Iceland
The ‘golden waterfall’ is the island nation’s most famous cascade and is fed by the Langjokull ice cap. With two distinct
drops – one 36ft, the other 72ft – it pours into an impressive canyon and when the sun is shining, there’s a spectacular
rainbow from the spray. From a certain angle, it appears that a mighty river simply vanishes into the earth. Deservedly
one of Iceland’s most popular tourist attractions. gullfoss.is Get there: Destinology has 4 days from £559pp inc flights
