In October, Weather Tight was
named Replacement Contractor
of the Year by Replacement Contractor Magazine. Given the current economic state, Weather
Tight has looked at this recognition as a huge honor. “In a year
when flat is the new growth, only
the companies whose primary
focus is on customer satisfaction
can thrive.” (Replacement Contractor Magazine p.31)
To ensure that Weather Tight
remains successful, there are a
few things they do to make sure
they are the best they can be.
“Our benchmarking system is
fairly ruthless when it comes to
installers. Cleanup is the biggie,”
said Tod Colbert, President and
Co-owner of Weather Tight.
Employees follow a strict benchmarking system. This allows all
employees to be aware of what is
expected of them, in relation to
the company goals that are set.
All Weather Tight’s employees
bring valuable ideas to the table.
For example, one of Weather
Tight’s in-store promoters came
up with the idea to have a banner
performance. Tod reviews each
and every report card personally.
He then passes the feedback
along to the appropriate departments to praise them on a job well
done, or to take any challenges
and make them right.
of Paul Joseph, former meteorologist for Channel 4 and current
spokesperson for Weather Tight,
in our new Brookfield Idea Center. Since the majority of our commercials feature Paul Joseph,
and he is a positive figure in the
southeast Wisconsin area, they
felt that it would tie in the overall
idea of what Weather Tight is.
Thanks to her great idea, Paul is
now proudly displayed in our new
Brookfield Idea Center.
On the customer standpoint, as
soon as a job is completed, the
homeowner is given a report card
to fill out to rate the company’s
This kind of dedication to making
things right doesn’t seem to go
unnoticed. Recently Weather Tight
was named the President’s Award
for Best Performing and Most
Trustworthy Retailer in the Replacement Window Industry, from
consumer feedback to Sunrise
Windows, as well as the Torch
Award Runner Up from the BBB,
which honors companies who
have strong business ethics.
Weather Tight knows that the
growing doesn’t stop here. There
is always room for improvement,
higher goals, and bigger dreams.
We know that we have a lot to
accomplish before we are the best
we can be, but we are on our way!

West Allis Idea Center Hours
Holiday events in our Brookfield Showroom
The first holiday season for our Brookfield Showroom proved to be filled
with holiday spirit. On January 5th, Santa Claus came to the Brookfield
Showroom to greet children in our beautiful sunroom. Thanks to
generous donations from employees, both showrooms were beautifully
decorated for the season.
The holiday spirit was strong this year at
WEATHERTIGHT with our first annual food
drive to benefit the Hunger Task Force.
Customers earned up to 15% off of their
project by donating canned goods (1% for
each can). It was a huge success! Customers donated a total of 2263 cans, and with
the employee contributions the grand total of
food donate was 7573 cans! What makes
this even better, is that WEATHERTIGHT is
matching every donation! Thank you all for
your contributions!

ENERGY
SAVING TIPS
Here we are, in the middle of
a cold Wisconsin winter, and
most homeowners are
looking for ways to reduce
their energy costs. Weather
Tight products are made to
stand up to Wisconsin
winters, but there is more
you can do to lower your
energy bill! Use these tips in
conjunction with your
Weather Tight products and
you’ll save a fortune this
winter!
Turn your thermostat
down to 68 degrees. If you
get chilly, put on a sweater.
For every degree you lower
your heat in the 60 or 70
degree range, you’ll save 5%
on your heating costs. When
leaving the home, turn it
even lower and you’ll save
more.
Turn on the humidifier.
Humidity makes the air feel
warmer than it actually is. To
avoid condensation on the
windows, turn the humidifier
down or off if the outside
temperature gets too cold.
Get attic insulation. Most
homes built before 1980 do
not have enough attic
insulation. Without proper
insulation in the attic, the
heat from your home
escapes through your attic,
and into the atmosphere,
causing you to have to spend
more heating and cooling
your home. Weather Tight
makes attic insulation and
can help
make your
home more
energy
efficient!
Q
A
What is an R-value?
What R-value should my attic insulation be?
R-value is a term that is used to measure the resistance to heat
flow that a material has. We use R-value to measure the isolative
properties of windows and attic insulation, for example. The
higher the number, the more resistance to heat flow and more
insulated the material is. Here are some additional tips on attic
insulation.
Did you know that the Department of Energy recommends attic insulation levels of R49 for Wisconsin homes, but an estimated 60% of all homes do not meet the minimum building code requirement of R-38?
When we help customers reach the
recommended levels of attic insulation in
their home using our blown-in insulation, we
also look at other causes of problems in
proper attic insulation to ensure the best
result for the home owner. Weather Tight
also adds necessary intake and exhaust
ventilation on the top of the roof as well as
soffits to promote proper air flow in the attic.
Another way to help the effectiveness of an
insulated home is by air sealing. By sealing the basement sill boxes homeowners are
able to prevent cold drafts from leaking through the windows spaces in the
basement. Similarly, by air sealing the attic, you can prevent air filtration from stirring
up the dead air space pockets in the attic insulation, which reduces its effectiveness.
By taking the extra steps to properly insulate your attic and add the necessary
ventilation to the roofs, home owners are able to extend the life of their roofs and
reduce ice dams created during the winter months. In addition, some customers are
able to save more than 20% on their energy bills and qualify for the tax credit that is
offered through the end of 2010 of up to $1500 as well as up to $575 in rebates.
What a great way for Weather Tight can help you improve your home and save you
money and energy costs!

PREMIER PARTNERS
This article is framed by some very well known logos and WEATHERTIGHT is proud to be affiliated
with each and every one of them. We are very particular with whom we associate. We set high
standards for customer service and will only partner with businesses and vendors who have the
same level of commitment to their customers as we do with ours.
We are proud to announce our newest premier partner with The Milwaukee Admirals. The
Admirals are Milwaukee’s ice hockey team. They participate in the American Hockey League. The
Admirals were founded as the Milwaukee Wings, an amateur team, in 1970 and have been a part
of the Milwaukee sporting community since.
Admirals games have been known for more than just ice hockey. The team takes time to integrate
their fans into the games with fun activities during the game, including a human hockey puck
competition. A fan is chosen and launched across the ice as a human hockey puck and attempts
to knock down bowling pins. Roscoe, the team mascot, is a fan favorite and makes his way
through the crowds during every home game.
WEATHERTIGHT will be offering FREE Milwaukee Admirals tickets to customers that sign up and
participate in their FREE, no obligation consultation if they sign up through Brookfield Square mall
or the NEW Brookfield Showroom (146th & Capitol Dr.).
You can find WEATHERTIGHT at sixteen Admirals games during the
2009-2010 season, between January and March of 2010.
