Destiny : Check Out Lost Materials Back to Original Patron Follett Technical Support Knowledgebase Informational Article Applies to: Destiny Library, Textbook, and Asset/Resource manager Summary: If “Overdue to Lost” was set in policies and multiple copies were all marked lost at one time, but need to still be checked out to the original patron. Detail: For Library, Asset/resource, and pre 12.5 Textbook manager. 1. Create a Patrons – Current Fines/Refunds report in report builder builder. 2. Check only Patron barcode and Copy/Item barcode in step 1 3. Skip to step 6 of report a. Limit imit by fine type = Library, textbook, or Asset/Resource depending on the material that was marked as lost. You will want to run a separate report for each product as they will have different checkout commands. b. Reason = Lost c. Date assessed = date overdue to lost job ran 1 ©2013 Follett Software Company 4. Save and run the report. You should receive results like this when viewing the report. 5. Save the xml file to your computer. Skip to creating Offline circulation file steps. For Lost Textbooks in Destiny 12.5 If you want to check back out lost textbooks, there is a report in 12.5 that you can run to find all currently lost textbooks marked lost on a particular date, or date range, regardless if a fine was charged. 1. Go to reports – textbook reports – Lost textbooks and fines. 2 ©2013 Follett Software Company 2. Set the Date range to match the date the overdue to lost report ran. Check “limit to textbooks currently in lost status” so you are only affecting lost copies. 3. Save the XML file to your computer. Creating Offline Circulation file. 1. Open in excel, click okay for any pop up that appears in excel. 2. Add a column in front of the patron barcode column, and copy in the checkout checko command appropriate for the module the items came from from.. (See below list to choose from) Check Out Library to patron - %C123H Check Out Text to Patron - %C125J Check Out Text to Teacher - %C124I Check Out Assets to Patron - %C121Q Check Out Assets to Location ation - %C122R 3. Save the file as a csv,, or WIN csv if on a Mac Mac. 4. Open the new csv file in notepad++. 5. Delete the header row 3 ©2013 Follett Software Company 6. Run a find/replace and replace, with \r\n with search mode extended. 7. Save new file as a .txt 8. Upload the file under circulation – offline circulation under the appropriate view. Make sure you also set the due date to a future date if you do not want them to be marked lost again. Or you can set them to the original Due date if you want to charge an overdue fine (Library only) but ma make ke sure Overdue to Lost is disabled in policies. 9. This should now check back out all the books to the original patron and remove the lost fine. (If patron paid the fine, a refund may not be created, depending on settings in site configuration.) 4 ©2013 Follett Software Company
