1. This order may be cited as the Prohibition on Fishing (Ashburton River) Order 1998.
Interpretation
2. In this order—
“the waters of the Ashburton River” means the waters of the Ashburton River, the waters of all of
its tributaries and the waters north of the state between 114° 54.54´ east longitude and 114° 55.50´
east longitude within 800 metres of the high water mark.
Prohibition on fishing by nets
3. (1) A person must not fish for a commercial purpose by means of a net in the waters of the Ashburton
River.
(2) A person must not fish for a non-commercial purpose by means of a net, other than a throw net or
drop net, in the waters of the Ashburton River.
