THE GRAND KNIGHT SAYS
Worthy Chaplain & Brothers Knights,
HAPPY SPRING!!!!
We see “signs” of new life all around us this time of the year. The trees are budding, “green
shoots” are popping out of the ground, robins are singing and the sounds of lawnmowers fill
the air. THANK YOU GOD, for ALL YOUR WORKS are WONDERFUL and ALL CREATION GIVES
YOU PRAISE!!!!!! AMEN!!!
May is a Marian month. We HONOR our Blessed Mother Mary, Queen of Creation the patroness of our country and our Holy church. Pray your rosaries often this month, asking for
Mary’s intercession for our families and for all the needs of God’s Holy Church here on Earth.
May our will be in union with God’s. Mother of Jesus, our life our sweetness and our hope
PRAY FOR US. Remember the “UNBORN” in your prayers this month brothers. WE ARE THE
“VOICE” of the unborn. Let us pray for an END to abortion. Life is NEVER a “choice”. LIFE IS a
PRECIOUS “gift” from God. HIS to GIVE and HIS alone to TAKE.
We remember our mothers and all the ladies in our lives this month as we celebrate Mother’s Day on May 8th. We give thanks to God for the “gift” of our mothers who in turn gave us
life and sacrificed a lot of their lives for us. Thank your mom’s for all she’s done for you and
let her know how much you appreciate her. To my mother in Heaven I say, “Thank YOU mom,
for bringing 9 children in the world and instilling Christian values and the faith of the church
in us. May God grant you everlasting peace and rest in his kingdom for your faithful service
in your “VOCATION” as mother. Thank you for “choosing” life Mom!!! Happy Mother’s Day
in Heaven!!!”

I wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all our ladies too. May God bless you all abundantly for all
you do, especially all you do for Anchor Bay council no. 5981. WE WOULDN’T BE SUCCESSFUL WITHOUT YOU!!
We will have “final” round of nominations for council officers for the 2016-2017 fraternal
year at the May general meeting. Thank you to all my brothers who were nominated and
accepted to serve as a council officer at the April general meeting.
MARK your calendars and “SAVE THE DATE”. Friday, June 10th we will have our Annual Appreciation Dinner & Program in the Parish Center. I look forward to seeing ALL my brothers
with their wives or ADULT guest (if not married) in attendance. For those new brothers that
might not be aware, at this dinner we celebrate all the accomplishments of the past fraternal year, especially acknowledging the recipients of our annual Tootsie Roll drive for the
mentally impaired. If you know of ANY brothers in our council that might not know of this
event, or of ANY widows of deceased brothers of 5981, they are invited to this event too
(along with an ADULT guest).

Deputy Grand Knight Report
Brother Knights, we all know the joy we feel
when we give. We’re givers. It’s who we are, it’s
what we do. We help others and don’t expect anything in return. In fact, some of us get embarrassed when we receive personal accolades. But
think of it this way, when you receive something
from others you just gave them the joy of giving.
You’re not taking, you’re receiving. But you are
also giving at the same time. You gave them joy
to give to you. So please humbly and graciously
accept any awards and look at the people around
you and see how happy they are for you.
In Memorial
Eternal rest grant unto our Brother Ronald
Walters, O'Lord and let your perpetual light
forever shine upon him. May his soul and all the
souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy
of God, rest in peace. Amen. Please keep
Brother Ron's wife Sally and their children and
grandchildren in your prayers too.
Vivat Jesus,
S.K.

Reflections
Your Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Charles White
Worthy Brother Knights,
We recently had our Council’s annual calendar planning meeting for the upcoming year. There are a lot of
great events planned for this year as well as many good ideas that will hopefully create new opportunities
for our Council to reach out and help those in need.
To kick off the Month of May we will have our parish May Crowning on May 1 st at the 9:00 AM Mass. This
month is dedicated to Our Blessed Mother. Let us remember to honor her during this month, especially by
praying her Rosary. Even if you are unable to get all five decades in at least offer a part of the Rosary. If
you haven’t had devotion to the Rosary in the past, now is a good time to learn. Our parish is under
Mary’s special patronage. Let us honor her, ask for her prayers, and place ourselves and our families under her special protection.
This month is filled with special Feast Days as the Easter Season comes to a close. The fifty days of the
Easter Season are a reflection of the days Our Lord spent with His Apostles and Disciples after His Resurrection: He appeared to them for forty days and then ascended into Heaven. Ten days later the Holy Spirit
descended upon Mary and the Apostles. There are forty days from Easter to the Feast of the Ascension of
Our Lord and then we celebrate the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost ten days later. As we celebrate
these Feast days, let us contemplate these great mysteries of our Faith. May these Feasts fill our hearts
with gratitude and joy for all the Our Lord has done for us!
During this month of May let us ask Mary, Queen of Creation, to pray for us! Know of my prayers for you
and for your families.
Vivat Jesus!

Knights of Columbus “BENEFITS NEWS”
May is Disability Insurance Awareness Month.
A Founding Notion: Protecting the Breadwinner’s Income
While jobs may be safer in 2016, accidents, injuries, and illnesses that can impact your ability to
work still happen. Most, in fact, do not happen on the jobsite or place of employment. Did you
know that a 2011 study revealed that more than 95 percent of the long-term disability claims on
file were not work related?
The Knights have always sought to protect members’ families from the “loss” of a breadwinner.
I’m sure you know all about Father McGivney’s vision for our first, insurance program. But you
may not know that Father McGivney also wanted to find a way to help members who couldn’t
work because of an illness. After all, the “loss” of the breadwinner does not have to mean that
person’s death; it can also mean the loss of the breadwinner’s income.
Consider that loss for a moment. How would your family fare if a source of income suddenly
stopped? Could a dual-income family manage on one income stream? What about young families
with a working father and a mother who cares for the children? What if his income halted due to
an accident or illness?
I’ve heard some people say they have coverage at work, but too many aren’t sure what this coverage entails, how much income it would provide or for how long. Having this protection counts
for something, certainly, but it isn’t “yours”; it’s provided by the company for which you work at
their discretion. It could be eliminated tomorrow.
That’s where a personally-owned disability income insurance product, like Income Armor,
comes into play. It can offer valuable income replacement in the event of an injury or illness.. If
you have a job, you must know about this coverage.
I’d like to meet with you in your home, at your convenience. I’ll work with you to make sure your
family is protected. As a brother Knight you can trust, I’ll take the stress and worry out of the
buying decision.
