Much scarcer than the later 10c rate. $250 Item #2. Toronto 5 parcel oval ties #35 1c Small Queen on Massey Manufacturing Co to Armadale, Ont paying 1c printed matter rate. Cover torn at top but a scarce parcel oval. $25 Item #3. 1897 Montreal type 7 flag (Nov. 17 1897) ties #51 1c Jubilee on private postcard from Laidlaw Watson & Co boot manufacturers, to Port Hope. Advertising on private post cards were not allowed until Dec 9 1897 but the card was accepted at the third class matter rate. Scarce, especially for a Jubilee usage. $150 Item #4. 1900 Toronto 1c Numeral tied by Toronto “B” flag type 8 to Morrisburg, Ont and redirected to Iroquois. An illegal sized stamp collar. Also interesting is the postcard banner very similar to postal stationery post cards. Earliest Recorded Date of Censor Tape. 5c Cariboo tied by St. John’s slogan (Sep 2 1939) on Bank of Nova Scotia cc window envelope with censor tape on reverse and pink datestamp “SEP 2 1939” and initialled. Civil Censorship catalogue listed Sep 2 as earliest date. Britian declared war Sept 1 and this was used the very next day. A censorship rarity. $200
