Ossining Operations Center Renamed for John-Paul Rodrigues
April 28 Ceremony Coincided with CSEA Memorial Day
On Friday April 28, 2006 at 10:30 a.m., the Ossining Operation Center was officially renamed for
John-Paul Rodrigues, a Village of Ossining sanitation worker who died on the job in 2005. The
renaming ceremony was scheduled to coincide with CSEA Memorial Day, the day set aside to
remember civil service employees who passed away during the preceding year. CSEA is the Civil
Servants Employees Association.
The ceremony featured the unveiling of new signage for the Operations Center, which is now known
as the John-Paul Rodrigues Ossining Operations Center. Representatives from the state CSEA were in
attendance for the ceremony. The Rodrigues family and friends were also in attendance as were
members of the public and the press.
“We feel that the renaming of the Operations Center for John-Paul Rodrigues is a very fitting tribute to
one of our fallen workers,” said Linda Abels, Ossining’s Village Manager, “We are honored that
members of the Rodrigues family and representatives from the state CSEA were with us for this
important occasion.”
